Part 5 The fight was over. The Settlers kicked butt in the melee. That was the turning point.
A couple of photos of the boats. Both were made by me. More for gaming not real historical.

Great AAR and great scenario, specially those boats. :-* :-*
I always wanted to buid a keelboat and yours is a inspiration.
-
The F&IW , a river and boats - wonderful ! It looks looks like an exciting game . The fog on the river is a good idea, both it and the smoke from the musket fire was well handled and brings the game to life. The boats are excellent gaming pieces .The game reads like a scene from a film and is believable . Look forward to more posts .
-
Very nice work, and the boats are close enough to the real thing that no apologies are needed.
So, next up is Mike Fink and his river pirates versus Davy Crockett, right? If not, you should read up and put it on your schedule. You already have the boats!
-
And there“s a film too with Fess Parker.
David Crocket and the river pirates.
I think its on youtube.
-
Interesting stuff. I like the style of the boats :)
cheers
James

Nice report and pics of FIW with a different slant.
-
Boats are always nice, and those are very cool! Sounds like a fun game.
-
Inspirational indeed! Thanks for the AAR. I know it's out of the time frame, but it looks like you could have the start of a Lewis and Clark style campaign game.
-
rumacara, Belisarius,
Thanks for the very nice comments, the smoke from the musket fire was used to show that the figure fired and needed to reload.
FifteensAway,
Yes, Mick Fink and river pirates would be an interesting and fun game. I have both movies with Fess Parker.
jimbibbly,
Glad you like the boats. I love the things you build.
Phil Robinson,
Thanks Phil, I have been trying different types of games to see how Drums and Tomahawks play.
I must say that I like playing them.
shandy, wolfkarl,
Thanks for taking the time to reply. Yes, I do think rules could work for Lewis and Clark. I plan to use them in a small Retreat from Moscow 1812 game.
-
Wow...that is a great setup and idea for a scenario! I love it!!! The Indians coming out of the mist is perfect.
You definitely don't need to apologize for the keelboat and flatboat. Those are the type of gaming pieces that draw a crowd at a gaming convention and spur people to sign up for your game. They are great, and will doubtless inspire others to build one, too.
Can I post a link to your AAR on the First Command Wargames website? It'll make a great addition to the nearly 30 battle reports we have on there...
Congrats on the game...looks like a blast!

Randy! Congrats on the retirement...that's awesome. And thank you for your service, sir!
If you hear any grumbling, please ignore it....just that my friends are all retiring early because they were smart and got education early and can retire in their 50s. Meanwhile, I'll be working till I'm whatever age they keep raising the minimum up to...! I think the next increase is called the Methuselah Level!!! lol
