Title: New VSF-style "posh jawas" coming from Black Hat
Post by: Rhoderic on 11 January 2016, 12:20:39 AM
I wasn't sure whether to put this in VSF Adventures or Future Wars as the figures will be part of Black Hat's "Mutants and Madmen" range which is otherwise all SF and superheroes, but by their appearance alone I'm somewhat more inclined to interpret them as VSF.

At any rate, these upcoming "Martian Traders" look very appealing. They're like posh, baroque jawas ;)

Agreed, and if they were in 18mm, and unarmed, would make handsome civilians haplessly wandering a battlefield in Martian Empires.

'We've our orders to not fire on non-combatants, but watch them closely.'

'Guns under the robes!'

That's a good idea. I do play/collect Martian Empires, but looking past my sudden need to have these figures in 18mm ( :) ), I'm now thinking that I could convert four of those figures - the ones on foot without rifles - into unarmed civilians. As it happens I've lately been thinking about doing sci-fi "marketplace scenes" in 28mm, populated with all manner of aliens.

They bear a striking resemblance to Ironclad Miniatures Martians, who in turn bear more than a passing likeness to the Martians from the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen grahic novel ;)

Funnily, I happen to be waiting for those Ironclad Martians in the post right now. Ordered them a few days before discovering these figures.

I imagine myself doing some sort of "Clash of the Martians" scenario at some point using all the many different figure ranges labelled (or otherwise suitable) as VSF martians in 28mm. It'll be at least 8 factions by now :D

They'll be the nicest minis of this range!

I love these! What wonderful models!

I have to say, the flying thing has a rather peculiar 'dick cannon', but apart from that... Grand!

Not feathers, liftwood fronds. The immature twigs lack lift sap....

Whoops, wrong game universe.  lol

Being Martian Traders, they buy Venusian feathers from the Earthmen :D
