Title: Pulp Alley -- 3d City
Post by: d phipps on January 16, 2016, 04:49:33 PM
Here's a photo of a project I am working on for our Pulp Alley game ---

I am designing the pieces with Solidworks and printing them on an Objet 30.

HAVE FUN

Looking mighty fine!  :o

So these will be available to us mere mortals at some point?

That looks really awesome! Wish I would have access to that kind of printer on my own :-( It seems Modulary Terrain Pieces aside from the lasercut stuff might be an upcoming trend this year^^

THANKS! I am having lots of fun designing and printing these.

I'd love to be able to offer these to other folks. It really just depends if we can figure out a cost effective way to make them for players.

Hopefully you'll find a way to do that :) In the meantime, have you already build a building with these?  ;D

Actually, my goal with these is to make a city block at one time. So rather than making individual buildings, I want to be able to make a whole cluster at once.   ;)

Sounds great! Will look grand for sure! Interior access in plans or "just" the outer shell?

We game a lot and I've had bad experiences relating to playing with interiors in the past, so I usually avoid making them.

I may eventually make a couple interiors for special scenarios, but for now I am only making the outsides.  ;)

To say I'm impressed would be an understatement and then some...shall be following your project with great interest...also...would it be impolite to ask what program you use to draw up your designs ? I can barely use Hotmail but am curious to understand how all this 3D stuff comes together

Thanks, glad you like it.  I am using Solidworks to make the designs.

Oh lord that looks soo nice!

Little suggestion. What you thing about an additional Moddingpart to glue on the front that forms this little alkoven.

Something like this here:

That would add a bt more depth to the parts without making a whole new fassade. It could be a Addon Bit that snaps the already existing Windos grid and would covers the width of two windows for example.

That's some cracking fronts there! :-*

Can I ask wee sidetrack question? What's the resin robot beside the buildings?

That's a giant version of a smaller robot I designed. It stands about 3" tall.

Are you planning on releasing it?

Thanks for the comments and suggestions!  :D

Are you planning on releasing it?

Yes, but there is still lots of designing and testing to complete. It could easily be six months before we get anything released.

Here's the latest batch of pieces for our Pulp Alley city terrain, fresh out of the power washer. I just have them stuck together to see how everything fits - so nothing is glued together yet ---
