Title: Franc-Prussian War Wurttemburger question
Post by: commissarmoody on 26 January 2016, 09:52:16 PM
My Buddy is looking to do some Franc-Prussian War Wurttemburger's. But I can not find any info on how they look. Or pics of their uniforms.
He is saying that they wore a Prussian style black uniform with a steel helmet. I am not so sure.

So the Wurttemburger's looked more like Prussian Jaegers then Prussian line infantry? Or did They field both types?
Also what color where their uniforms? Facings and the like.
I believe he is confusing them with the Wurttemburger who fought in the Napoleonic wars.

They looked more similar to the French, except w/ shoulder rolls ,often fired upon by own troops. There should be a Osprey book w/ the pltes and info. or Even Funcken. The tunic is similar to 1866 Hanoverian except w/ the stiff Kepi.

Thank you. So no spike helmets for them then. And I just put that book on order.

I have a written description (from a book I published many years ago) on my blog here http://stracmark.blogspot.co.nz/p/franco-prussian-war-armirs-wurtemberg.html

The most accurate illustration is the second one in juergen c. olk's post
