Title: Warbase's Three Musketeers.
Post by: owaincaesarius on 27 January 2016, 09:34:18 PM
I have a large (probably too large) collection of Redoubt's Three musketeers range figures. However I like the look of the new(ish) Warbases figures. http://war-bases.co.uk/index.php?route=product/category&path=131_154

So just wondering if anyone knows if they are compatible with the Redoubt figures?- which are on the large size. I rather doubt it myself but would be happy to be proved wrong.

I also would like to know!  :)

Since they were originally done as a private commission, Redoubt musketeers figures are 32-35mm, but if you assume that in this picture the round bases are 25mm in diameter, the Warbases minis looks bigger than "true" 28mm!

The sculpts look very "big headed" to me...  This picture is from Warbase's Facebook...

And I've just found this:

Hope that helps!

Cheers for that. Agree about the WB's heads being rather pumpkin like. I'll take a look at York and if I remember take along a Redoubt musketeer to compare. I rather like the fact that the WB figures are in "civilian" attire and make a change from the usual tabards. Although truth be known I really need no more figures for this project at all, but it won't stop me adding any that fit the bill of course and those Red guards look good.......

I remember painting the Redoubt figures for a client. Nice to paint and bags of character but they are big.

The comparison pic is deceptive because it's apples and pears. I'm not against big. My Punic Wars Collection is a few Renegade figures, which are similar in size to Redoubt. But, en-masse, and if you are collecting all sides, they look fantastic. My advice is go with what you like and sort everything else out afterwards.

Terrain rarely needs to be scale and often looks out of scale when in scale, so just go with what you want.
