Hi All,
For little Wars this year I am going to run a fast small game unlike last years ACW Olustee extravaganza, from that experience I think smaller and quicker is better for the public to get involved in and watch. So it'll be a FUBAR VSF for which I'll need a Martian tripod, now rather than use one of my smaller AD ones I have I've decided to make something a little bigger.
So a couple of plastic cups, some styrene tube, some sheet strene, a couple of goggle eyes, some Lego bits and a bit of glue later...

The picture figure is 28mm so you can get an idea of its size...
It's got rocket launchers attached but still needs the heat ray and smoke discharger so I gotta check my parts box for something suitable.
Also I think I need a large green or red button for the eye so off to Spotlight me thinks :D
Cheers!

That looks brilliant Captain.
I look forward to seeing it finished and in the flesh at Little Wars!
Cheers,

Very cool - look forward to this developing.

Nice start! He's a big one though. You must have plenty of storage space!

Okay the Tripod is all tooled up, three black smoke dischargers across the front, two rocket launcher pods one on each side and the ubiquitous heat ray mounted low....just some detailing of the melon head is required and maybe a couple of tentacle arms then its ready to paint so I can start testing the 'Martian Attack' scenario :D

The cut out base is a great idea.

Thanks for all the comments guys!
The Tripod is getting quite a bit of attention when people see it in the flesh...seems size does matter!

I have an image now of a Victorian sci-fi snowspeeder as the only thing capable in taking that thing down.
