Hi guys,
i'm looking for two elephants in 28mm for my first darkest africa project. Maybe i'm stupid, but i only find miniatures in 15mm or war-elephants (with crews), but no bare ones. o_o Any suggestions?

Try" Toys are Us"

I went with toy elephants that I found at my local swap meet. They were cheap and painted up great. You can see some of the many I added to my 28mm collection in pics 52-58 of my African Adventure Gallery at www.warin15mm.com/28MM-African-Adventure-Gallery.html

Quite honestly, rubber toys many times look better than many lead minis out there.

I just love that "explorer in the cooking pot" you have on your website. His facial expression is simply awsome. :D

von der Tann, glad you enjoyed the man in the pot. The pot and the original figure in it is from the Old Glory Darkest Africa (probably not the precise name) line of figures. The original figure was a bearded guy and I think that the original piece might have also been part of their pirate line. Anyway, I cut the head off the original figure in the pot and replaced it with the head of a figure wearing the helmet and glasses... I'm sure I got that idea from someone else, but whatever the case I'm very happy with the way it came out. Thanks for taking the time to write. Richard

1st corps miniatures. ;D
Their range is extensive and includes African Indian and Forrest there are more than sixteen different variants short of repurposed toys your not going to find simpler kits head and body are one piece resin casts each pose has two trunk variants ,each elephant has two poses this means you can make four individuals ,and even more by simply changing the length of the tusks.
This range has made more than one company take a fresh look at their own range and most have even copied the poses.
I know this because I sculpted the range and have seen other companies physically pale when they saw the first releases and in months commission new models .These are designed with painters in mind so there's plenty of raised detail to accommodate many different methods and styles ,and just for fun I've included a couple of design notes from the original concept meetings :D

Anyone know how big the Ral Partha elephant is? As I understand it some of the elephants sold by wargames manufacturers can be a little small on scale.

Not mine ,scaled to work with based and movement trayed figures ;)
