I recently purchased and saw this because many of the weird or even things atrocious to the story in the movie theatre cut become enjoyable in a completely different way. Some ideas which just seemed strange and over the top remains over the top (an not int the spirit of the original story) but inventive, exciting and fun. I am in particular thinking of the warmachines in the battle scene, like the specialist trolls, ram cavalry and chariots. Oh, yes, very warhammerish but I really got into those, not because they are pure Tolkien pure but on their own merits.

I think for geeks of any colour the extended uncut version is always the true version, as we tend to both appreciate the insignificant but inventive things left out and most notice the minor discrepancies in left due to their absence.

Casting Billy Connely as Dain Ironfoot was brilliant , especially as he in his youth "fecking hated the Tolkien hippies". lol

Given the average human lifespan I find it scarcely credible that it was possible to extend any of Mr Jackson's 'films'. Maybe Galapagos Tortoises were the intended audience after all.

The hobbit films would probably be better cut down to just two movies. Maybe just one if you cut away all the jumping on falling stones cgi crap lol

Hammers, you are a sick, sick man. Do you also repeatedly stick a fork in your head for fun? lol

In the first GW rulebook there is a photo of elves counting the dead goblins from Khazad Dum. This didn't appear in the extended LOTR film. I imagine that there is a substantial amount of footage out there. I expect to see an extra extended version of the 6 films when money dries up a bit......

No, not at all. This new shit has integrity. It is shit in it's own right.
