Title: Terminator: Genisys Miniatures Painted Up
Post by: Giger on 09 March 2016, 11:26:49 AM
I've finally got back to painting and started working on the backlog of Terminator miniatures.

I really enjoyed painting these and I think they've turned out pretty well, other than the odd wobbly line.

You can see more pictures on my blog here:

And see some of my previous painting on a previous post:

Fantastic work! Your models look so much better than the ones on the Warlord site. :)

Those look pretty nice.  How does Warlord's resin compare to other companies to work with?

The resins are actually from Prodos which, no matter what you think of them, are some of the best in the business.  They have enough 'bend' so that they aren't brittle and snap like some resin miniatures which allows you to get some very fine pieces that aren't a break hazard (the legs on the mortar and lead for the dog for instance).  Also if you do have a piece that is a little out of shape the old hot water/cold water trick works a treat (and is great for customising as well).

How did you do the bases ?

I use Vallejo's 'Black Lava' which is then painted 50/50 black and cold grey, highlighted with a dry brush of cold grey and then heavily washed brown.

Gah, Prodos!  So...much....hate....

To be fair, with a few notable exceptions I hear that a lot.  If only they weren't a bunch of f&#$&!@ thieves. Oh, well.  The figures do still look nice.

I wasn't sure about the Terminator figures, the resistance guys seem to have wierd skinny legs, but you've done a fantastic job on them. John Connors damaged face has turned out fantastically well.

They're actually very realistically proportioned rather than the standard heroic proportions you tend to find in gaming (though the characters are somewhat larger than the core infantry, most likely to make them stand out more but it's nothing too drastic), they match up very well with the AvP miniatures.
