Title: Pyrrhus and companions

Here is Pyrrhus of Epirus and his companions. If the general looks familiar it's because he was painted by Mad Doc of this establishment; his companions were painted by Redzed. The miniatures are, of course, lovely Aventine Miniatures. There's more about him on my blog http://bigredbat.blogspot.co.uk/2016/03/pyrrhus-of-epirus.html (http://bigredbat.blogspot.co.uk/2016/03/pyrrhus-of-epirus.html).

Best, Simon

Great looking figures, finely painted, charging to "victory"?

Thanks!

To victory; who can tell?  They  are certainly charging nicely.  I have a lot of time for Aventine horses, I increasingly use them to replace horses from other ranges.

Very clever basing for line and wedge.  Idea stolen!

You even retained the poor legionary's helmet! :D So nice to see this model finally united with his companions – and what fine company Redzed's troopers are. Lovely!
Hope this unit will grant you (or anyone playing) many great, if no Pyrrhic victories.

Hi Mad Doc, yes I retained all I could.  He's looking good with his companions.  I'm going to need to paint up some more Romans for him to ride down.  :-)

Best, Simon

Simon, if you need support in rallying a few Romans or, in fact, another one of the Hellenistic big players, I'm happy to help. ;)
Actually, seeing miniatures painted by me used 'in anger' is such a joy, because in my own service they're mostly gathering dust.

Funnily enough, Doc, Keith saw my post and called me this morning with the offer of some part-painted Romans so I think I know what I'll be painting this Autumn!  I want to do a large Polybian army on the irregular bases I've designed.

All of the minis you sold me will be  integrated into my armies- I'll use them as "hero" miniatures- they are quite lovely.  Maybe I could solicit some morre from you when I get going!
