Title: CP Models - 28mm WWII Kharkov SS Grenadiers
Post by: cp models on 23 March 2016, 11:39:10 AM
A preview of our upcoming 28mm Kharkov Waffen SS Grenadiers.

These will be our debut into 28mm WWII, with the aim being to reproduce our popular 20mm Kharkov range in 28mm plus expand on it.

Figures sculpted by Tony Boustead and painted by me.

I wanted a gritty look but think I may have gone a bit overboard on the weathering on these :).

Coming soon to www.cpmodelsminiatures.co.uk

Thanks for looking.

Mark

Looking very good. As you know, I love the 20mm ones and I am sure these will be a bit hit too. I would suggest doing them with a lot of spare arms, so people can mix and match and make a variety of poses, which in turn will create more sales for you!

So key questions: How much? Will you be bringing some to Salute for me? And will this be the same size as the 20mm range in terms of numbers of figs?

Do tell all Mark!!!!!!!!!!! :P

Glad you like them.

We are aiming for bigger than the 20mm range, we have around 12 figures ready to go with more in the works.

The first batch are all general infantry types with machine gun & mortar crews in the works and also being as this is 28mm we are planning to do some personality figures as well. The plan is to get the Germans fleshed out and then get some Russians on the go but I might decide to mix it up a bit later on, so you get an alternate release for each nation.

Some figures with separate arms might be a good idea.

Price wise we are probably looking at about £1.60-1.80 a figure really depends on how they are released as I normally release singles at the higher price and then do multi-packs at a slight discount but not sure whether to just do these in packs or more likely a mix of packs and singles where appropriate like personalities as singles for example.

Sorry I wont be at Salute this year so it will have to be snail mail for you :)

Best

Mark

I would suggest a batch release price, to get those that want them to buy the group. I wouldn't put them in singles as this will make casting a nightmare for you. Packs are the best way to go to make your life easy, trust me on this one!

So when will we be able to part with our hard earned cash for these beauties???

Thanks George :) Glad you like them.

I am leaning towards packs as well mainly due to making casting them easier but I dont mind the odd single personality figure once we get to them.

In the process of getting them ready for release as we speak, just black washed most of them and need to add them to the site. So hopefully should be around the end of this week if all goes to plan. :)

They look stunning - and realistically proportioned.
Now I have to contemplate selling either my Soviets or Germans and buying and painting a complete new army
Aaaaaaargh  lol

These are smashing! Wish I knew you were releasing them, I'd have held off purchasing my Warlord Winter German set. :)

I too would love to see a comparison picture next to some other manufacturer's minis if possible?

Here are some more

Kharkov Waffen SS Grenadiers / walking with KAR98's

Kharkov Waffen SS Grenadiers / firing & loading

Kharkov Waffen SS Grenadiers / advancing

These are available now just in time for Easter :)

I dont have any other manufacturers figures to hand to do a comparison but they will be the same size as the Empress moderns and civil war figures as they were also sculpted by Tony, so if any of you have any of them in your collections that will give you a good guide.

We dont have plans for the French at present as we will have our hands full filling out the Kharkov range for a while.

Hope you like them :)

I have to say, I am not a fan of most 28mm WWII ranges, for some reason they are to cartoony, so these are a real breath of fresh air into the scale, well done CP models, I don't have the 20mm Kharkov range, but I have painted them for a customer, and they are sweet, have always wanted a set for myself, but haven't been able to afford it (not that they are expensive, just everything else in life is)
