Here's my 3d-printed Land Dreadnought (http://shpws.me/LQIR) painted up and ready to roll. It's nominally in 6mm scale, but it's big enough to make an appearance in 15mm games too — the model is about 65mm long.
It's been printed in BSF sintered nylon, of which I am not particularly enamoured, and has had a couple of coats of acrylic gesso (among other things) in an attempt to subdue its very pronounced surface texture.

Looks fantastic! The paint is very convincing making it look heavy and iron.

I find the Shapeways models hard to paint if you don't get the polished or detail prints and for some reason some of the sellers don't allow you to choose them options, which baffles me tbh.. I have not bought quite a number of models from there due to this.
When you setup a print for sale, as a designer, you have the option of what formats to sell them in, at no cost to yourself..
Anybody got any ideas on the reasoning behind not selling polished and/or detail prints?

The polished SF nylon is bead-polished indiscriminately, which obliterates fine surface details. The detail acrylic requires relatively thick minimum wall/wire thicknesses, which limits your modeling options, while being substantially more expensive to buy than WSF/BSF. FUD/FED is frighteningly expensive, so the chances of getting sales from the notoriously cheap wargaming crowd are relatively small.
