Title: Flamethrower soldier ?

Hi,

When I saw this guy, I thought that he could be a cool soldier for FG. :)

I bought it … before thinking about the use of it. ???

So, what do you think of these rules ?
-   Same stats as the archer
-   Weapon : alcohol flamethrower with shoot +0
-   Take one action to full his mouth with alcohol. This action ca be done instead of making a move action (like the crossbow)
-   He starts the game “full mouth”.
-   Take one action to throw flames : give him a marker “empty mouth”, then put a GW conic template in contact with his base.
-   All characters (foe, friends and encounters) are affected by the flames, if they are :
   totally or partially in the line of sight (no cover granted by other figures);
and totally or partially under the template;
-   Only one die for the attack, no matter the number of affected characters.
-   One die per defender. Each one takes damages as normal.
-   Immaterial characters, scenery and treasures are not affected by the flames.

great ideas...very cool mod...use a flamer template from 40k...hm....lol

I would say no to the template. Primarily because there's a chance (slim as it may be) that the player would not have access to the template in question. You should write it up like a spell effect.

Would have to have a pretty high cost, as the chance to hit multiple opponents (or even just deny the space) area is a good one, especially when you think the only other "area of effect" weapons are spells.

I'd limit it to one person within 6", and if there is anyone else within 2" of the target they're hit on a 11+.
I'd also remove the "full mouth" at the start - kinda difficult to clamber through a ruined city with a mouth full of flammable liquid. Also, if engaged in combat they lose "full mouth".

Simple solution: make this your Elementalist. Fireball (Elemental Ball) everyone forever.

Not that I'd mind a fire throwing soldier, I'd use a snake person model and call it poison.
