Just was thinking what was the best picture made showing the period of the French and indian war historical

I agree, even though they give Revolutionary War sentiments to an earlier period. But for action, spectacle, and sheer inspiration, the old "Drums Along the Mohawk" and "Northwest Passage" can't hold a candle to it.

Besides, who among us enthusiasts of the period hasn't grumbled, "Magua will kill Gray Hair...!"???

What I found was like the book he/ they changed around the historical aspect of the various tribes along with making them out to be the bad guys in the aftermath of the surrender of fort william henry.

The massacre in the film was actually misrepresenting what actually happen during the retreat it still effects people's understanding of the native tribes.

No doubt things did occur but not in the numbers shown.

Would love to see a picture from the tribes viewpoint during these conflicts.

But Drums is a good picture.

Mohican's was a well made film in all respects (strict accuracy aside), the locations were splendid and beautifully shot. Who didn't love the trekking through the primordial forests.

The differences between the book and the movie are fascinating. I actually wrote a grad school paper on how analysis of the two can reveal what each era (book was written in 1826) considers a "hero." Both try to somewhat sympathetic to the native viewpoint, at times, but still classifies certain tribes as "bad guys," as you say.
