So after getting so much inspiration and advice from this forum, I thougt it would be appropriate for me to give something back! Me, being a father and running my own business. I do not have the time for extreme detail and also lacks storage space in our cramped apartment. This have forced me to think outside the box when designing terrain. For me, it needs to be cheap, easy to make, easily storaged and still look good.
Therefore I present the Uncivil Wars River/Jungle Concept.

A West african river.

Firstly, you need a cheap and flexible base material. I used a camping sleeping mat bought for 9 EUR.

Cut an appropriate length of mat, roughen the edges a bit and split it in half.

Paint it in prefered colour and insert small plastic plants (bought cheap on e-bay and aliexpress) through the soft foam.

Glue the plants in place witch will save time when you use it. But only glue the small shrubbery.

The result should look something like this.

Then, bring forth the cheap chinese palmtrees (also from ebay and aliexpress). They cost about 0.1 EUR each.

This is the real beauty of the concept. Thanks to the soft foam, you just press the trees straight into the ground before a game, giving the opportunity to create a new djungle every time.

You can create dense foliage or savannah like vegetation. It is very easy to assemble and disassemble and allows great flexibility.

Put the modules together and you have a low hill. The cut in the middle may need some shrubbery to cover up.

Pull them apart and you will get a narrow canal...

For river water, use cheap, disposable liner board paper.
