Finally found some time to paint the first couple of the new Perry plastic British infantry, picked up at Salute a couple of weeks ago.
Very nice, characterful figures as ever. Somewhat tall and slender, and a bit fiddly what with all the webbing and puttees. And unusually for Perry plastics, the detail feels a little bit shallow. So all in all, not easy painting... Whether I'll have the patience to paint the full box of 36 is another matter...

They look good enough to me 8)
I see what you mean about the amount detail, something which couldn't be avoided I suppose.
cheers

They look great.
But I can see there is a lot of detail to paint.
How long to paint them, compared to your War of the Roses figures?
-
Very nice. :-*
As fiddly as the detail is, it certainly adds to the effect. 8)

Thanks :)

Difficult to quantify. Definitely a bit longer to paint, even though they are basically one colour!
More that they feel a bit of a chore to paint, whereas the Perry medieval stuff is always a pleasure.
But I think I probably feel the same about any regular uniformed troops where it's a repetitive job. All the straps and accoutrements and bits and pieces just add to the illusion that it's a pain... I feel the same about the 8th Army and Afrika Korps.
But they are, of course, all delectable figures and worth the effort.
It's just that some figures are great to paint, and some feel not quite so great. Very hard to put one's finger on why!

I think it's because you can't use pinks and other such fancy colours! ;) :D

lol
Very possibly...

Nice painting as always Richard, i hope you do paint the whole box of 36 to the above standard as that will be a splendid sight.
-
Brilliant, Richard! :-*
I'm always amazed at how well you do these Perry Minatures. I hated painting mine! That 'chore' feeling really got to me!
-
Lovely paintwork, Richard. What you said confirms my concerns about them. I'm actually considering to jump on the NWF waggon but probably only on the Afghan side, don't think I would find the strength to paint that lot of fiffly uniformed stuff.
-
They look splendid. :-*
You would think such a "plain" uniform would be easier to paint, but in fact it turns out quite the opposite.
-
Lovely work, Richard. Splendid as always. :)
On Friday I received my (first...) box of them and I can't wait to have them on the desk. But there are some zombies and 72nd Highlanders to finish first...
-
Brilliant job, Richard. The contrast between the dark blue and the pale khaki is a very nice touch.

Lovely brushwork Richard.

By Jove, those are fabulous!! :o :o
