Title: (Commercial) Crooked Dice: Villains 2 - NOW IN STORE
Post by: uti long smile on 05 May 2016, 04:12:58 PM
Here are some previews of the Villains 2 pack sculpted by Ernst. Off for printing today, so likely released in July/August. The pack includes the 7TV 2e archetypes for a Jackbooted Sadist, Insidious Industrialist, Faithful Lackey and Double Agent.

Really nice to see renders of these.

There are a lot of talented 3D sculptors around. However one of the key talents I think the majority of them lack is knowing when to stop. Too often the sculpts are crammed with extraneous detail that adds little to the figure other than painting time.

Simple subjects, executed flawlessly.

Well, it is not the dress for the NOT-Xenia I would have selected... but the "Double agent" seems to fit well a thing I need...

Is the middle one George lucas or the guy from CSI? The one on the right looks like sean Bean.

Nice looking mini's but they look a bit short or is that just me? their legs seems a little off.

I would have said Hugo Drax (from Moonraker)

… or Phillippe Couillard, our very own villain character and Québec’s current Prime Minister;

EDIT: Excellent figures BTW!

Zenya Onatop the first one, then Drax, Sean Bean as 006 not sure on the last one. The legs on 006 look a bit short though. Great figures all the same.

I think that's just 28mm scale that makes them look short or stunted. I think that's why some people do 'True Scale' stuff.

Btw does this help working out the last character?.....

.....at least, that's my guess anyway!

The legs on 006 look a bit short though.

Often when I see the new renders for Ernst's CD models I think the same but, in the 'flesh', I find they end up looking entirely in proportion (within the bounds of the 'heroic 28mm' bracket).

Man... now that you mention it, it does look like him!
Maybe he's holding the famous Plan Nord spread sheet...

So what are the 7TV stats for an AK-47?

As ever, we're hysterical not historical, so use the lovely generic SMG.

I honestly think you should re-write your game around a SMG-Assault Rifle-SLR split :-)

Well, I think 'not having assault rifles' limits the utility of the rules outside of the Sterling SMG + L1a1 SLR era of Classic UNIT

More recent Dr. Who where all the UNIT dudes have G36c carbines frex

(http://www.cultbox.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/Doctor-Who-Osgood-Kate-Stewart.jpg)

Or more recent James Bond movies like, say, Goldeneye

Superb figures ;D

The model is a dead ringer for this character, except the face. The face is great, a good character, but I didn't recognise it as XXX. I think it is saying something, even in 28mm, that these miniatures are otherwise instantly recognisable as the exact characters.

First time I saw the set I was thinking of Miranda Frost or Electra King. The head and hairstyle seems quite good for the latter.

Fear not. Attacks for SLR and assault rifles are in other profiles (Army Privates all have SLR for example), but not in the profile for the Faithful Lackey that this model is suggested for.

But the grunts never hit anything anyway.
SMG, SLR, assault rifle, harpoon gun, flamethrower.... they all miss.

Even more so when you are playing the game :~}

Funny that notwithstanding the very blonde hair, the excellent female spy figure now looks like XXX in the face too. Great paintwork and great models!
