Title: British 10th Light Dragoons
Post by: Brian Smaller on 06 May 2016, 09:24:55 AM
Hi all

Finally finished these Elite Miniatures British Light Cavalry.  Week and a half job to get them done. Not my best but happy enough in the end - they will pass muster at wargaming distance on the table top.

Nicely done and good to see some classic old school miniatures still being painted. They take me back to my youth :)

Thanks - and these are new to me :)  Honestly I would probably have gone with Connoisseur from Bicorne in the UK but the Elite figures are so like them in style and so affordable given that they are cast up across the ditch by Elite Miniatures Australia they have become a no-brainer for me.  I could probably even save more by getting them shipped to a family member in Sydney and brought over next time someone comes over to NZ.

Time for the Hussar Brigade then  ;)

I would like to say there are two shows of that happening and one of them is one show.

But.... A KGL LD regiment perhaps ... if I want a change from slamming my fingers in a door.

Bonjour Brian,

Once again astonished at your painting output!

These look great so you've convinced me to unearth my Elite Chasseurs a Cheval de la Garde, which are a 40 figure regiment, as I wasn't sure until now that it was worth the effort of painting them and to go instead for the newer Perry version.

Maybe I'll try a test figure first.

Back to mowing my wife's excessively large lawn!

Cheers,

Paul

Forty hussar figures would kill me. I couldn't even imagine starting a unit like that let alone ever actually finishing it.

You just showed me my worst painting nightmare.

What rule system are you using? Something with a 1:10 ratio?

Brian

We play Republic to Empire, 1:20 ratio.

This regiment was consistently around 1200 men, even at Waterloo, hence 60 figures.

Have to agree I wouldn't fancy painting them all either.

Your Waterloo refights must use a lot of table space :)

Hi Brian and Toggy,

What a great unit and what a great game!

60 figures indeed!

Any chance that you could let me know by PM who painted the Chasseurs a Cheval DLG?

Particularly liked the Calpe Prussians in British Rifleman uniforms and so great that all the figures worked together so well.

Cheers,

Paul
