Based upon the call for people to post more pics and less chat I thought I would put up some of my
dross efforts
First up is last nights WIP

Two GW Empire state troops. Decided to paint them in pairs so as not to go crazy and as a bit of a test. Gone for blue and white/cream colour scheme. The cream is meant to be natural linen - so just un-dyed cloth. I have been trying out the Foundry triad paint system. I am not sure the best method but I go with the shade colour into the recesses/lining then build up the base and highlight on top. It's quite time consuming so I am not sure if it would be better to line the shade coat in after painting the whole thing base coat. Or just to go back to using an ink for the shade.
Next is some basing I have finally decided on - painted sand with static grass.

Some centaurs

and finally some Chaos Warriors

On the to do list is finish up the Empire State troops, base about 100 more miniatures, build a couple of 4Ground hovels then put on a game of Dragon Rampant.

Nice choice of colours on the chaos warriors.

You've been busy! Nice work.

Thanks for the comments. This is anything but busy - I've managed to paint a grand total of 60 miniatures in the last 16 months.
Here are the completed state troops. Still not convinced by my efforts with the triple layering. The skin works well but the blue isn't very distinct. Think I may go back to using ink for the shading on the deep colours.

Some "better" pictures and two more painted.

and another sword and buckler man

I used a different colour for the cloth with a paler highlight and a dilute ink wash on the blue to deepen the shading a little. I think I will paint the rest with a mix of the two cloth colours - sort of like a sightly down at heal unit. They have the blue but some bits have gone missing, been replaced, trousers lost, etc
edit - adjusted white balance and cropped

Now from the back. Need to sort the white balance next time - that background is meant to be white!

I've quite enjoyed painting them and will have a go at the drummer next along with another halberdier
