Title: Bestiary cards
Post by: chrisbogert on 07 June 2016, 04:14:59 AM
Hello ~
I have been observing the forum, but don't think I have actually posted before.  Fan of Frostgrave, and have been making a set of bestiary cards.
I did all of the design and artwork on them.
All of the drawings are based off of the official Frostgrave miniatures, except when there was none, in which case I based them off of miniatures which seem popular to use for the creature, or from my imagination when none of the above was available.

There are 5 pages of cards and include all the creatures from everything up to now: core rulebook, Thaw of the Lich Lord, Dark Alchemy, Hunt for the Golem, Sellswords
(http://cf.geekdo-images.com/images/pic3046751_md.jpg)

Here is a googledrive link with pdf files for all of the pages.

Thanks.
No problem.

Makes for less page flipping while playing.

I print them double-sided on cardstock, and they fit in standard card sleeves.

These are great. I was working on some myself but I like your layout better.

Thanks.  I tried to keep the artwork simple, mainly becuase then I would actually finish the whole set (in a timely fashion).
Took a few weeks of doing a few pictures a day in the evening after work.

Already printed the whole set and have them in use right now.

oh yeah, and the "Summoner" card is just for fun.. no real use.

Ooh, I was commenting during my last game that we could do with having the bestiary for ease (we sift through the rest of the book often enough).

Personally I may wind up just making a spreadsheet though.

Lovely work.  I did some, but yours look much more professional.
We use them as a wandering monster deck, that way there are no rolls for monsters we haven't got.

Yeah, I'm kinda using them in the same way, just pull out the cards for the monsters you have, or want to use and draw randomly for wandering monsters.

Also since I play it mostly by my lonesome, it makes for easy refence when monsters are the main opponent.

I'll have to change the card backs from the official logo to one I make.  I will upload that page again later tonight or tomorrow.

I started to make some Warband cards.  A user over on BGG had the idea to have a blank template, then you can insert a photo of your warband unit's miniature and have model specific cards.
If anyone is interested I can post the files over here as well.  Still a work in progress, but shouldn't take too long.

Then you can use GIMP or photoshop or whatever and make a set of cards specific to your warband for easy reference.

What is BGG?

And I would be interested in such card templates.

Board Game Geek.

Okay, as they are finished I can post a picture and the download link on here.

The BGG discussion is here:

Frostgrave»Forums»General (https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1586006/bestiary-cards)

The sample Warband card features my dog in the snow because I do not have a suitable canine miniature, but it will give you an idea of what it would look like (click on image in thread to see bigger version).  The idea is to have print and play cards that players can match-up with their Warband models to use for placing tokens (wounds, etc.) and as a general quick reference.

Chris has done a great job producing Beastiary and now Warband cards and BGG is well suited to host such adventures so definitely worth checking out.

Chris, your cards are great!

Have you considered uploading them to Artscow or a similar site?

I suppose I could do that.

Well, I'll get working on the rest of the warband cards today.
