Title: The camisards war
Post by: L`ancien on 16 January 2009, 03:27:06 PM
I hope you like History...    ;)

I am translating my articles about de French Camisards war. Here is the introduction :
http://fan2figs.blog4ever.com/blog/lirarticle-226522-1125069.html (http://fan2figs.blog4ever.com/blog/lirarticle-226522-1125069.html)

The campaign is written to be played with "Legends of the High Seas", but you can adapt easily for other rules.

For those who doesn't know the Camisards war, this revolt takes place during the reign of Louis XIV in the south of France (between Nimes, Alès and Montpellier) and engaged many royal army's regiments against Protestant Frenchmen. I'm ending the campaign with the English landing at Sète, en 1710.

I will also publish some pictures soon.

Wonderful stuff!  I am reading through this right now, and you have done a great job.  Of course, I am listening to the Master and Commander soundtrack as I do this, so it makes it even better!  My copy of Legends of the High Seas is on order, and I should be receiving it in the next couple days.

Keep up the work, and I have bookmarked your page, sir!  Keepus updated on your progress.

Thanks ! I'll continue to translate my articles next week.

The only thing hard to do is to find minis for the Camisards.
If some of you are interested, here is a list of minis I've already found for my project :

The majority of my minis comes from Front Rank (http://www.frontrank.com/), in Spanish Succession range. But they are in a hard to mix, big 28mm...
Do forget to look at civilians and other artillery crew, which can be used for conversions. With Front Rank, you'll find also minis for the English landing of Sète.

I used also Old Glory (http://www.oldgloryminiatures.com), in the pirates range: the bag of 15 Village Mob (OGP-28) mixes good with Front Rank.

And, some other references :
Redoubt (http://www.redoubtenterprises.com/) (French and Indian War) :
F&I 24 and F&I 25 militia.

Conquest (http://www.conquestminiatures.com) (French and Indian War also) :
FIW-008 Settlers, and the FIW-007 Jesuit is suitable for Catholic faction.

Have fun !
