Hi!
I've tinkered with a force list for the Mississippi Marine Brigade for Sharp Practice. Deemed 'the strangest outfit of all', the MMB was founded in 1862 for counter-guerilla operations along the Mississippi. However, they proved to be a rather unreliable bunch of scallywags who mainly lined their own pockets by confiscating everything they could carry.
Their adventures would make for great skirmish games, so here's my take on it: https://wargamingraft.wordpress.com/2016/06/10/the-mississippi-marine-brigade-for-sharp-practice/ (https://wargamingraft.wordpress.com/2016/06/10/the-mississippi-marine-brigade-for-sharp-practice/)
The article contains some background, hints on which figures to use and a bibliography. For those who want to cut directly to the chase, follow this link to the pdf: https://wargamingraft.files.wordpress.com/2016/06/mississippi-marine-brigade.pdf (https://wargamingraft.files.wordpress.com/2016/06/mississippi-marine-brigade.pdf)
Cheers,
Shandy

I have to admit to having seen this list before as Shandy and I had a chat about the as he compiled them, but these do like like a rather jolly force to game with.

I've already ordered figures! I'll keep you posted on the progress :)

I have a Confederate force underway but that seems like a good opponent force.

That's a good idea about a very original unit.
As a mad converter (see my blog (http://chti-reanimator59.blogspot.fr/2016/06/le-solstice-dete-du-re-animator.html) ;) ), it'll be very easy to create some figurines for that.
Very tempted to build some scenarios about this.
but too many Projects in the same time :'(
Cheers
