Nick over at Northstar Miniatures previewed these upcoming plastic barbarians in cold weather gear for the upcoming Frostgrave Forgotten Pacts expansion to be released in November. Looking at the picture I would say these are also sculpted by
Bob Naismith Giorgio Bassani. Don't think these have shared here.

They look great. Will be looking forward to getting them.
-
Ooh, my next warband may be Nords I think... :D
-
Really excited for these. I can see myself going all in on a Nickstarter for the first time.
Should be great for a lot of Game of Thrones projects too.
-
Northstar and Joe are going TOOO FAAAAAAST!!!
I still need to finish all of my initial purchases... Let alone play an actual campaign! O_o

Very nice. Wildlings for GOT as well as generally nice to see Barbarians in more than a loin cloth. Thanks for sharing

I know right? I never understood why that trope has survived for such a long time.

A loin cloth and thick furry boots, that'll keep out the cold right?

Or anything else. Sure, armour can be pierced too, but it is always better than being... like... naked.
-
Yeah, I blame Arny.
It's funny thinking about the Conan movie that the trope came from. When they were in the cold conditions they were all wintered up and then he moved into the warmer areas and only wore his loin cloth. The two sides of it seem to have been intertwined.
These guys do look really great. Might need to start up a GoT lot myself. Wildlings and a Giant. Hopefully Northstar will bring out a nicely furred Giant to go with these guys.

I second this hope

A giant like this would be lovely ;)

But even the "clothed" barbarians in plastic are excellent!

I really like what I see so far. Another box set I'll be ordering. :D

Looking great!

Yep, thanks for the heads up on these. NOW I'll be considering Wildlings... :)
-
I will be keeping my eye on these. I am not really interested in the cultist or gnolls. Speaking of, has anyone saw the sprues yet for the gnolls?
-
As an outspoken critic of all the minis associated with Frostgrave, I've only one thing to say: I like what I see so far. Lol.
Credit where it's due, these look pretty good from the little we've seen here. Plenty of time to derail my positive opinion, but I hope that's not what happens. :)

I hsve the gnoll chief and he is really cool, hope the plastics scale with him! Frame will be posted one facebook shortly...

More lovely kitbashing opportunities. Not really a fan of Naismith's sculpting, which is, IMHO of a very variable quality across the Fireforge, Gripping Beast, Frostgrave and (I think) the Conquest archers sets. Some really good parts - some really poor.
But he does sculpt some very nice heads. I'll be getting this set for those alone, and if the bodies, arms and equipment are any good, that'll be a bonus :)
-
Just to clarify, the sculptor for these Barbarians (and the Gnolls, for that matter) is Giorgio Bassani, not Bob Naismith.
-
Thanks, will be editing my post then! Sprues of the gnoll will be previewed later this week according to Nick.

Thanks for the clarification Phil.
Naismith did the first two Frostgrave plastic sets though, yes?
Will be very interesting to see the differences in style with the different sculptor. The heads certainly look great :)
-
Yep, that's right, Cap - Bob did the Soldiers and Cultists. Glad you like the heads - I'll want to see some Wildlings in due course! ;)
Despite the different sculptor, the Barbarians and other humans will be fully compatible in terms of components. The Gnolls, naturally, are a little trickier to mix and match, being monstrous animal hybrids and all - the head/neck joints are different, but I reckon the arms would be largely compatible.
-
I don't think anyone here was expecting the Gnolls to be compatible with the rest. :)
I am looking forward to the future of Frostgrave. Also hoping to get back into painting them. I have been busy with other stuff...
