Title: Sky lunchtime news 20/6, Northampton
Post by: Silent Invader on June 20, 2016, 05:56:47 PM
NOTE: this post is not an invitation or excuse to discuss the banned subject of politics!!!

Caught the Sky lunchtime news today (20/6/16) and they were filming/interviewing at somewhere described as Northampton Wargames Club for views on current UK politics. Lots of 40k in display, some X wing and the odd card and board game but I didn't spot any historical action.

Edit:

Here's a link for those who want to peek at the games being played:

I found it interesting as I have never belonged to or played at a club, so had no idea what a club night (or day in this case) might look like.

On the plus side at least the hobby in the UK is not greying. Most of them were 20 somethings.

lol Most pics from wargames shows I see seem to show rather a lot of large, grumpy looking old men sitting around.

Probably because the wargames shows hold no interest for most of the under 30 (probably under 40 now) gamers that I know.

Looked like a Crux Terminatus to me but I don't suppose anyone else would be able to tell the difference between that and a Ritterkreuz.

And they really should get something done about the pointing at high level.

Not a bad look at wargamers.  Mostly painted figs, nice terrain and a generally well mannered group of young guys.  Many were surprisingly willing to admit what they didn't know or hadn't been told.

For those here in the USA the original link kept skipping to a sports video. This MSN link to the same video comes through a bit more reliably.
