I love the look and feel of the Frostgrave miniatures. But I am not a fan of metal miniatures or static poses. Does anyone think that we will ever see a plastic wizard/apprentice kit similar to the soldiers and cultists? I would love this. Games Workshop has one, but it only makes two wizards and is $30. I know it would be easy to kit bash one myself, but I would like to see a Frostgrave take on a multi part plastic wizard kit.

I'm in a similiar situation. I love the feel and weight of metal mini's, but I love plastics for converting. I'd definitely buy some.

I'd love to see this too, but I don't know if it would be as broadly marketable as the two kits already produced which non Frostgrave players have been buying to kitbash with historical plastic sets like Captain Blood with his Game of Thrones minis. Therefore I don't know if it would be as profitable, and I understand plastics come with a massive initial outlay, so a big investment with each set produced. Still love to see a set though please Northstar :)

Maybe you could come up with a list of bits to put 20 mixed Wizards, Apprentices & NPC types into a box in a similar style to the first two boxes, although it would be difficult to see a viable set being likely.

Or maybe just some sprues with wizard heads, staffs, and so on that fit all three (four) plastic boxed sets as Northstar did for the woodland bandit conversion sprue. Would drop the investment levels quite a bit that way.

Yeah a metal add on conversion set like the woodland outlaws set might be the better way forward to turn say the cultists in their long robes into wizarding types

While I agree it would be nice to have some 'stock' wizards, for me half the fun of conversions is looking around for miniatures, or thinking what could be added/removed to make what you want.
The Frostgrave Soldier box set is a good starting point. I turned one of the Thieves into my apprentice, and I'm currently turning my 2nd box of these into an all Female Wytch Warband curtesy of some female heads from Annie the Dice Bag Lady. I realise you were specifically talking aside from possible kitbash combinations, but the GW kit is mainly limited by its shortage of torsos. With just one more torso in there, the kit would have made 50% more wizards - but I guess that's business, huh. Anyway, my point is, if you do have the GW battlemage kit and either or both of the frostgrave plastic kits, you could easily make one, if not two extra passable looking wizards.

I mean yes it does feature quite a lot of green stuff now, but that's because I went over-the-top experimental. The original idea was simply GW battlemage spares on a cultist body. Really the rest is just garnish. I guess what I'm saying is, if you already have the frostgrave plastic kits, you can get more than two wizards from the GW box.

Ah, I hadn't seen those either. I wonder why they would produce that in metal instead of plastic?

It's a 3rd party option that was made to be compatible with the FG plastics, but not officially for Frostgrave. It's far easier and cheaper to make molds for metal casting as opposed to plastic dies for figures.

Yeah maybe an upgrade sprue that includes wizard and captain bits would be a better option. It is hard to locate the plastic kits in the U.S. Warlord Games carries them and they show up on eBay every so often. My local store said that their distributor has them listed as discontinued and pre-order at the same time. I finally broke down and got a box of soldiers off eBay for $36.00. I should have them in a few days. I know I could have just used GW Empire Militia, but I like the look of the Frostgrave plastics more than the GW ones.

A conversion sprue using the bodies from soliders and cultists is a great idea.
It could remain fairly minimalist but still be used to great effect- also as a single sprue it could reduce the number of SKU's a typical store would need to stock.

Yeah, I looked at Brigade and shipping for the one box was over $7. So I went the eBay route. Warlord Games has them for like $32, but you have to spend $50 to get free shipping. If I decide to get some cultists I may look at Warlord again. I am only slightly interested in the gnolls, but that may change once I see the sprues.
I also wish that there was some official Frostgrave terrain.

The closes to official terrain seems to be the Rendera ruins sprues

The Renedra ruins and Tower. Warlord Games has the ruined farmhouses and hamlets sets and the Tabletop Workshop Castle kits. Adrian's Walls does some stuff that is very Frostgrave.

Well, nice concepts but the realization is... really meh. Looks like carved from some foamed pvc. enough for scratchbuilding but from Northstar... not sure it's at the proper level.
