I recently purchased the Vallejo Rust pigment. I've tried out a couple of different methods for achieving a rust effect. At this stage it's only on bases, but hopefully once I get this down I'll be in a position to try out putting rust damage on larger items. Anyway, here's what I have so far, please let me know what you think and/or offer advice on how I might improve:

The first two on the left I just used the pigment as per the instructions (mixed with a bit of water) and then stippled on dull metal with a tiny piece of foam.
The other three had the rust mixed with the Vallejo transparent woodgrain (70.828) instead of water. This looked okay, but a little dark. I then stippled on the (new) GW Ryza Rust and then used a sponge with dull metal as described above.
Very open to comments and suggestions.
Thanks for you time.

Thanks, guys.
I'll press on with this method and try my hand at something bigger when our renovations are over and I can access my stored miniatures again.
