I had always said my last force would be a Chinese one. Back then I thought it would be an army, but I'm happy with a skirmish sized force. And since its being 'the last force' sounded a bit terminal, I added some Japanese opponents. And monsters. And a handful of Koreans too....
Anyone who has read (or watched) The water Margin (or Bandits of the Marsh) would know that this is a Chinese classic on a band of heroes who became outlaws in Liangshan marsh. In my version the marshhas expanded due to heavy rains and flooding, all the way to the coast. Cue a Japanese invasion, floating platforms, mountain tops or building roofs as the only land, a mish-mash of Chinese heroes, marsh monsters and spirits, Japanese Kami coming with the fleet for some fun ....
Although I have purchased a Chinese force with troops and heroes and have some Japanese invaders - not to mention some great scenery bits from Jimbibbly's Oshiro terrain - I started off with a bunch of Man-faced marsh bear spirits (!).
Here they are with a Foundry figure for scale.

Lots more to come - eventually!

A man after my own heart, look forward to seeing this progress. Especially the human elements.

Thanks guys.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_Margin (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_Margin) for a very brief outline of the plot.
There are no monsters - or Japanese - in the book, just some slight supernatural elements.
But loads of characters. These I hope to be adding slowly - I have 3 or 4 so far; and I am not getting the full set of heroes in the book (108!).

And now I have a landscape: I couldn't find the right surface for this, but finally identified one from PWork:

The dark swamp works pretty well, and I'm planning islands and rafts for this now.
It's 6' x4', more than sufficient, and really nice quality in the PVC version. I don't usually like mats, but I make the exception for water surfaces, air or space.
