Title: Experience points
Post by: Dranask on 04 July 2016, 12:30:19 PM
I am aware t6hat there was a period of consultation with regards to how in future we might earn xp for our wizards.

Was there a definitive conclusion, is there an intent to change them in an errata?

I ask as my club tends to eschew House rules but we did like some of the formative ideas

Thanks in advance

Still awaiting a response from Joe regarding the outcome of his research - I expect it will eventually appear as an errata!

In the meantime our group continues to house-rule!

There is nothing immediately forthcoming, so if you are just starting a campaign you might want to go ahead and house rule them if you are unhappy with the ones in the book.

Funny, I just mentioned that in another thread.
We've gone down to 25xp for treasure, still have the 10xp for spells.
We found that you get 3 levels roughly every 2 games.
It calms down the occasional runaway level wise for the Wiz and makes you plan carefully on what you spend your xp on.

We use the 'xp for a spell' as written in the book, but only for the first time that spell is cast by either wizard or apprentice.  Encourages the use of your other spells and not just a quick 'bone dart bone dart bone dart bone dart and I just leveled my wizard' approach to the game.

We just cut the xp for kills right back and made it all about the magic & treasure! In this way even the so called poor schools can gather as much xp as the stronger shooty wizards!
