I remember playing a demo game of X-wing at Cannonade (Falkirk) couple of years ago and this was on an what appeared to be an official X--Wing mat.
That was made in a thick material rather like a hard surfaced mouse mat.
This mat was quite large and had a wide border round the edge of the 90 x 90 playing area.
I have never been able to find a retailer for this mat.
I just received a 90 x 90 cm Nebula mat from Deep Cut Studios which I bought on-line.
The print is quite good but the fabric is very thin. I think that I will need corner weights to prevent curling
I went to their website and found that they have a mouse mat version but I have not seen one in the flesh.
Which mats do you recommend and who stocks them?
I am in Switzerland but can buy from UK or Germany.
Regards
Mick

I can definitely recommend the quality of the Deep Cut Studios mouse-pad mats...but I'm unfamiliar with their others. Given that the price is cheaper than many other competitors they're my current "go to". Seen a bunch of nice ones around for X-Wing but never pay much attention to the manufacturer. Gale Force 9 did some as well at one point.

I've played X-wing on several different types of mats and from different manufacturers.
The mouse-pad type is definetly the one you should get. Most other materials are too slippery or get bent out of shape and so on.
I have a mouse-pad-mat from Fantasy Flight Game with the Bespin print on and can highly recommend that one, or any of the FFG ones.

I've bought one from gamemat.eu and I've been very happy with my purchase. It's made of mousemat material and is both very good looking, heavy and can take a beating.
We've played X-wing on it on a weekly basis for at least 1,5 years now, and it still looks as new. I also occasionally take it with me for away-games, rolled up in a transport tube (I've got an extending plastic one with a strap from my art academy days) and it stands that handling perfectly too. Rolls out flat with no curling corners at all every time.
This is the one I have. (http://www.gamemat.eu/our-products/battle-mats/3-x3-g-mats/3-x3-g-mat-space1/sk/)
And here's a picture of it in action:

Have a look at Ceri Designs http://www.ceridesign.com/ (http://www.ceridesign.com/). I got some of their mats in their Kickstarter last year. They've got some 3x3 mats suitable for X-Wing.

Bought the magnetic war mat from Kory Harris KS then sold off spaceships before using. Uses magnets under stands to prevent slippage.

Thank-you everybody.
