Gentlemen,
I got a very nice email from Richard at HLBSC today ;D ;D ;D ;D :
Dear Peter,
I will be doing a final run of the VSF Cavalry shortly as a few people have asked and especially because of the support of gamers like yourself and those on Lead Adventure who have chipped in to get some of the other current 28mm lines. I've attached a list so if you could let me know what you would like. Also if you could make this common knowledge it would help greatly as this will be the final run.
All the best
Richard

Sterling Moose...that sounds good. I like the HLBS stuff and had planned an order anyway. But have you or anyone on the forum got any pictures of any of these? Has anyone seen them? Please do post them so we can all have a look.

Bloody marvellous news, thanks for sharing Sterling.
I'm thinking about geting some of the lancers (obviously armed with magnetic explosives) and the Household Cavalry. As theammedgatling said are there any pics floating about anywhere?

I have some Household cavalry, still unpainted. I'll try and get a photo up over the weekend.

Do you have a Photobucket account or something similar like an image hosting site?
If so all you need to do is copy and paste the Image code from the photo into your post here.
Alternatively if you become a supporting member here you can open your own gallery.
-
How do I do the supporting members bit?

Bottom of the homepage, is a link saying Lead Adventure Support. Click on there. You may well find the instructions in German. If you have trouble drop Prof Witcheimer a PM and he will guide you through.

Excellent news!
Unfortunately, this has thrown my February buying plan into complete disarray as they have become "must have" number 1. :-[
-
Cheers Nick,
my German is restricted to buying beer and asking if they have seen my panzer! I have also emailed some phots to old Moose, 6 photos Blues, Royals and Dragoons with some Foundry Prussian Cav and Helion and Co Uhlans for comparison. If I fail in my task hopefully he will be able to post,
Tally Ho!

Damn!
Couldn't help myself. Have already sent Richard an email with an order.
My wife will have me shot at dawn...
-
Well, just emailed to see if I can get hold of some of the Dragoons. JollyBob Senior has been after some in Victorian uniform for absolutely ages.
If they are as good as everyone says, there may be an order for some of the other regiments too. The Daddy does like his massed ranks of parade dress cavalry. :)

Most likely we will all be lined up against the wall together, and its probably going to be a very long line lol

I keep hearing great things about these but never seem to see any pictures.
Is it foolish of me to believe that if they are as good as I hear and there were photos on the Website and some painted examples they would be big sellers? ???

Here's a web archive photo of BCN2 Dragoons from the RLBPS website.

I wonder if HLBS woud cast infantry as well if there was enough demand? Here's a web archive photo of BAN10 Infantry Advancing in Glengarry, also from the RLBPS website.

Bloody Excellent!
The Dragoons have the horse hair plume. :-*
-
Those might just work as US cavalry in dress helmet (given a conversion via paintjob).
I just got a note back from Richard saying that he's not going to cast the infantry, as "I'd end up with hundreds of figures that just wouldn't shift due to the number of molds."

OK Gents,
The latest from Richard:
"......I'm planning to get the casting done at the beginning of February so that should give people a week or so to get their orders in. I'll send out PayPal invoices when the figures are ready."
Here's one from Nick:

"Book Early" as they say in some parts.

So tempting. Those lancers are promising.....
-
The Uhlans are Helion and Co and the Prussian Cuirassier are Foundry in the shot for comparison!
Tally Ho!
-
BTW...
Can anyone tell me what headgear the Lancer and Hussar figures have?
-
I am presuming the hussars will have a busby and the lancers a chapska similar to the Prussian Uhlan?

My bad :-X

Correct.
-
Thanks...
Just wanted to be clear on that since I've never seen any photos of the miniatures.
-
WooHoo!
Just got invoiced from Richard! Hopefully I'll have a couple regiments of cavalry soon!
Thanks Richard, really looking forward to the miniatures!
-
Me too. Richard says that only 7 people ordered but that the quantities involved made it worthwhile casting them up.
7 must be the lucky number as I ordered 7 Regiments, and bought 7 lottery tickets this week. I'm feeling pretty confident that the $1,000,000 will be mine. Then I'll be able to convince Richard to dust off the infantry moulds too!!
-
I might get a couple more... but would like to see the sculpts first hand.
Here's hoping they are nice.
-
Just got my confirmation and a paypal invoice from Richard, so these little beauties should be on their way to me fairly soon! :)

Same here, Lancers and Household cav on the way. :)

I hope Richard has cast a few extra up for late/additional sales, otherwise you might be out of luck.
-
Yeah, he did say this would be the last casting. He might have been waiting on payment, however, before having them done, so you may still have time to get additional figs in.
I got my invoice this morning. Some of every type, for a total of eight units. I bought more than I really needed, but as it was the last chance...
-
I wanted to get some.... And then an unexpected bill came in..... I know that I will regret it eventually. Oh well, at least I got some Mounties.
-

I know it is a risk, but hopefully he will have a few spares left over. He told me in one email that he wouldn't invoice until the figures were ready to ship. So hopefully we'll be getting them soon.
I ordered a regiment of Dragoons and Lancers, but I could easily go for an additional regiment of Guards and Hussars if the castings come out well.
-
Arrived today - Wooot! They are lovely. JollyBob Senior will like them, I am sure. I'll post pictures when they are painted to his satisfaction. :)
-
Bob. could you post pics of them unpainted too? I'm really curious.
-
Yeah, shouldn't be a problem. Give me a little while to find the camera and I'll see what I can do.
Edit:
Right, this is the best I could do with bare metal, sorry if you can't make out the details too well.

And a comparrison shot with an Artizan figure for scale:
The Dragoons all have the same basic body casting, but come with seperate right arms, with a choice of drawn sabre (as shown) or bugle or empty hand to take a wire pennant staff in the case of the command set. All the horse poses are the same, so not very dynamic, but perfect for state occasions. ;)
The only slight fault I have with them is that the horses could have been slightly bulkier, but other than that, they are lovely little models, with very little flash and fit together very easily.
The Oldfella will be pleased, I think. :)
-
Thank you! That was very kind.
-
Looking good JollyBob. I'm looking forward to seeing my Postie limping to the door under the weight of my parcel. I just hope that Customs don't pay too close an interest - I got hit with customs fees on my last order :'( :'( :'(
-
By the by, if anyone ordered the Lancer command pack, please let me know when they arrive. I passed, as I had some on hand, but I now think I may have made a mistake, as the figures look miscast.

Tommy20, my Lancer command pack arrived today and the figures look fine. What do you think is wrong with yours?
If I get a chance over the weekend I'll try and get a pic or two for you but being caught with wargaming goodies over Valentines weekend could result in an embarrassing trip to A&E! :o

The lancer officer's scabbard is very short (shorter than the blade of the sword), and has no detail on it (like the drag on the OR's swords). After discovering this, I compared it to my Household Cavalry officers, and theirs are similarly bereft of detail, but are the correct length.
I've since done some more searching through photo's, and think the lack of detail is correct (as the ornamentation on the real thing is rather small to appear on a 28mm fig), however the length is still suspect.
-
UPDATE!
Part of my order arrived today (Richard told me it would come in two separate packages), and I recieved a miscast hussar whose scabbard looks exactly like the lancer officers in question. Since I have a plethora of hussars to compare to, I know how it was intended to look, as well as what the miscast one looks like. I think it's just a matter of the metal not filling the narrow crevice of the scabbard mold.

Just checked mine and see what you mean. the scabbards are a wee bit short but are in proportion to the sabres. Overall the figures are excellent so it's easily overlooked. Looking forward to seeing your lot painted up.

That's just it. The ones I have aren't in proportion. They're quite a bit shorter than the swords supplied with any of the figures in the line.
Looking forward to seeing your lot painted up.
Me too! Especially since I started collecting these when they first came out!!!
-
Ooooooh, got my first package on Friday.....................more lead for the lead god? The Mountain grows higher, I did think about taking The Pledge this year - I'm glad I didn't.

Pete you had a huge lead mountain in 1986!!!
-
I sold a lot of it before emigrating, now I'm just making up lost ground!!!
-
And a pity you cannot find the deutchmarks for the HLBSC infantry! Never mind I shall offer them here before I go the ebay route!
