This may be old news to avid followers of the "Evil Empire" but I just spotted this while shopping for Legends of the Old West supplements for my nephew (he's got the Old West bug pretty bad):

Sorry if this is already common knowledge. First I'd heard of it.

I´m rather intrigued by that, and what a nice coincidence that I bought a handful of ships for the period at Crisis - teeny-tiny 1/2400 sailing ships. Will have to upload some pics of those, now...

I've seen this Dylan in a newsletter sometime ago.
Thanks for the update.

What a terrible excuse! at least you could have said that the dog ate your home-work! :D
anyway... I'm really looking forward to know something about the rules system of this game! if it's related to Manowar (not the tight-leather-pants Manowar) and permits battle lines I think I'll have a go with this one!
-
you think they are going to link to legends of the high seas?
-
But sir, the dog did eat my homework!

Not from what I have seen I think it could be large scale battles and Napoleonic too
-
But sir, the dog did eat my homework!
ok! ok! that's more reasonable! :)
I think there is a show in the UK where they are going to make some demonstration games of Trafalgar ... here it is:

I want to see how the Americans are handled in their codex.

Mark Latham & I have talked about it, but nothing has come about because of it. I know some LotHS players wanted to be able to command a fleet of ships, this ruleset will allow that.
I was on the playtest group years ago when mark started writing the book (around the same time I was doing LotHS), but as the LotHS came into final edits I had to step out of the group. but from what I remember it is based on Man O War and allows the use of multiple ships. I know I will be picking this up to play around with.

eheh! :D
Hail! Hail! Hail and Kill! :D

thanks for the info.

What a beautiful game! Good to see that GW still has some class!

I really wish people would stop giving GW credit for these games. Warhammer Historical is an owned subsidiary of GW but the folks at Warhammer Historical are owed the credit for this. Not the &^%$^% bean counters that run GW.
Lets give credit where it is due.

Did you used to work for them or something? :)

I was chasing my dog, who was eating my homework, around the internet and found a couple of sneak peeks from the book:

actually I found the info on the Tabletop Gaming News page! (as usual) :D
Pete: there is a page concerning the USA!

Now, maybe, they can get on with the book they promised two years' ago: Divine Wind.
-
Very interesting insights. Maybe a chance to link our Cornwell/O'Brian'esque skirmish games with some sail action. And it is shiny. Guess I'm in. ;D
@joroas, sadly there are other things to be released first, i.e. WAB 2.0 and a Great War supplement. Also heard of a HYW book being in the pipeline. Therefore I don't think Divine Winds will be out soon. If it's a comfort: I'm still waiting for supplements dealing with the Successors, Greek & Persian Wars & the Crusades, that have been also announced for ages. ;)

I wouldn't mind so much if they hadn't teased me with the cover art. Story of my life, really................ :'(
-
So are these rules about ship action (cannonades, manouvering and the like) or skirmish type boarding action?
If they are based on man o' war I am guessing ship action...?
-
any suggestions on where to get ships for it I have some man o war galleys.
-
Try GHQ, Langford or Navwar.

Additonally, there´s the Figurehead ship range in 1/2400 available in Europe from Magister Militum. Out of a whim, I bought a handful of ships at last year´s Crisis convention and painted them up in December - only got around taking pictures now! Go figure! lol
A small Royal Navy squadron, which will be centered on a number of frigates and some supporting types. I´m aiming at gaming some of Pellew´s exploits or the fictionalised variations thereof found in the Hornblower novels.

And some opposition, a Spanish frigate and two French privateer cutters. Will paint a French frigate as well.

The €-Cent is for size comparison and about 2/3 the size of a UK penny. Don´t know about American money, but the ships are from 1 to 2,5/3cm base length.
