First game of CONGO by studio tomahawk, at the weekend me and Alec both received a copy of the game from Wargames Foundry, I had a quick read and Darren ran a demo at the BOYL using my collection. today we gave a game test. full review here http://shadowking-shadowkings.blogspot.co.uk/2016/08/congo-first-test-game.html

CONGO is a fun fast and enjoyable game on our view and we plan many more. If you have a collection of darkest African miniatures or anything I would say you could play the game using the profiles on the company's in the book. We have been asked by Wargames Foundry to help with a Demo game at the Partizan convention on the 21st August. So if you attend please come and say hello.

Nice write up. How do the action cards work then?

Fantastic to finally get some views from gamers who bought the rules. Some of the elements, especially the comparatively short ranges seemed "gamey" to me - but perhaps there are good terrain-based explanations. Anyways, I'm looking forward to more game reports.
Thanks - and it does look like a fun game.

Nice write up. How do the action cards work then?
You have 7 in your hand and select 3 to play per game sequence lay then out and both revel, the cards have a number that denotes who goes first if the same the initiative player goes, each card has a number of actions a group can make or number of groups. we found this along with the totem cards actually the most important thing in the game.

Do the cards fully determine what each group can do?
-
The cards show what action the group you chose can do in that phase of the action sequence

Thank you. Darkest Africa has sorely tempted me for a while and I have a very modest collection of figures and jungle terrain already. The idea of small scale, narrative based games appeals but I've seem so little of Congo's gameplay that I was hesitant to launch into it, particularly as it's not a cheap purchase.

Sounds like the rules could be a lot of fun to play.
I have lots of figures and terrain.
Only thing needed is the rules.
Oh, by the way, are there any U-tube videos about the rules?

"Oh, by the way, are there any U-tube videos about the rules?"
There have been some "promo" videos on youtube for a while featuring fantastic table setups but nothing that really covers gameplay or mechanics that would allow you to assess whether this approach works for you.

Thanks for an enjoyable review.
