Title: All quiet on the Martian Front is back.
Post by: fantail on 16 August 2016, 11:07:53 AM
I don't know if this has been posted already but it looks as if All quiet on the Martian Front is back and under new management, so to speak.

Well, heard it was coming, but this is the first I've seen of the website.

They having the promo, nicely stuffed I must say, for sale and announcing a statue from my birthplace has already stole my heart.

Bonne chance to them!

Honestly, totally disinterested but wish them well.

The Martian stuff is ok, but the steam powered tanks are a complete waste of plastic, along with the bizarre logic that only the US railway industry would be capable of mass producing vehicles, so they would have to be coal powered.
Ford might have been interested in that idea. The fact that there were armed vehicles being produced in Wisconsin in 1899 (although not fully armoured until 1915) was irrelevant.
So I'm glad if the Martians are back, but the other stuff is mostly WWI designs with smokestacks and extra turrets loosely piled on top like a child's birthday cake. Or a 40k vehicle.

The good news here is that the Assault & Scout Tripod kits are available again, they're good injection moulded kits I have a couple of sets of each.

I haven 't touched any of the resin of metal stuff...

Personally I like the tanks and the fluff but each to their own I guess

I kind of like the tank, as anybody who has seen my VSF topic probably could have guessed. ::)

In any case, I'm always glad to see the models being "saved" so to say, I'm not particularly familiar with what was going on with the company but in the end its the miniatures we all care about most, and they did nothing wrong! lol

I read the free rule book they had on line, and have to say it is very well done. I liked it enough to order the starter set. I think this will be a very good game to play with 4+ people at a time. Actually excited about it.

That's good news! It's such an interesting setting. I think the guys that made it just bit off a bit more than they could chew. Trying to make such an ambitious range right off the bat-plastic kits, resin, metal, books, game aids-too complicated to do in one shot-too many things to go wrong. Good to know it's coming back though :)

There are some good battle reports here http://aqmf.freeforums.net/board/23/battle-reports-scenarios-organisations-structures (http://aqmf.freeforums.net/board/23/battle-reports-scenarios-organisations-structures)

Also if you haven't already read it the Great Martian War by Scott Washburn is set in the game world and is a fun read.  The second book should be out soon.

Getting ready for my next game

Actually, one will notice the Battle for Oxford Valley is Scott Washburn's AAR. I'm still on the first novel, but a friend is impatiently waiting the second, and the third is in process.

Another fellow posting on TMP: The Battle of Mullan Pass (http://philsmartianfront.blogspot.com/2016/09/the-battle-of-mullan-pass.html)

It's actually his second campaign. "I tried three times to get Fort Edmonton to stand, but fate was against me. So the Narrative has us defending the Rockies, and if lost, the Sierra's, and if that, the outskirts of Seattle."  ;D

The first battles are set in Canada, but involve units from Canadian, British, and US forces, though not entirely cordially.  ;)

I must say, for all the travail out of the first release, there are still folks getting a heck of a lot of fun out of the game.

Certainly nice to see this IP saved and back on sale.

Noticed that the "kickstarter only" vehicles and Red Martian are also for sale.

Just wish the damned land Ironclad wasn't so expensive.

Actually, there were eight(the eighth may have been a scratchbuild? the British version?) on the table. 'I was asked to build and paint 5 for someone,...'

Part of my reply was 'And, we're not supposed to be impressed with someone having five?'

His last post: 'At Little Wars you would see more than just those 7. I anticipate that there will be 12 in the game, as well as 2 more British Land Ironclads. Hundreds of Tripods to go at them and more.'  :o

And, he seems the kind of fellow who follows 'didn't happen unless there are piccies...'

It was based on the idea that the oil reserves were cut off during the invasion and since the east coast is still very full of coal they worked with the resources they had. Historically and during the era this makes complete sense.

Miniature Market has theirs for 10% off; 20% off is great, but MM has a larger selection to top off what you get for less.  ;)

All of the above in the US, just to be clear.

Anyone even less?  lol

One of the locals backed the KS and was supposed to have a dozen coming.  Don't know if he ever got everything, though.  I've only ever seen one.  Impressively big, but not worth the money IMO.

Sorry, I didn't think anything I said contradicted what you just said. All choices in the US, you have lower prices, MM has the selection to fill in what you're able to supply until YOU run out.

If I've given offense, I am totally clueless as to how.

Doug,
Absolutely no offense taken. :) We think everyone here at Lead Adventure is great.

We just wanted to make sure our offer is clear and out there to:
1. Help gamers get some AQMF Units they may need anyway at a lower price
2. Make room for our own line of 20mm products and licensed 20mm products we are going to be announcing soon.

Hope you are keeping warm in Nebraska... its unusually cold here in Virginia today.

Reached a balmy 40F yesterday; when I awoke O-dark early, it was 36F, and the mercury (old guy talk) [has been falling] ever since.  :'(

Everyone says 'stay warm' as good bye in these parts; my reply is 'not going to happen,' which always causes a knowing smile.
