Title: Battling the Beast
Post by: Operator5 on 29 January 2009, 12:54:25 PM
Here we see Goran and a few Ibyssian Lion Guard battling some fell beast summoned by a mad sorcerer in the midst of my work bench. Thankfully, there are heroes to defend the paint and unfinished figures at all times lest the forces of evil sweep them into the trash and claim dominance for all eternity.  ;D

I painted the Beast, Goran and two of the Lion Guard were painted by Tom Hoffmann and the remaining Lion Guard by John Newman.

very nice.
I like the guardsmen. What are the figures on the far right ? Also from your range ?
Greetings

Shit! That is really f**king cool. Bravo, Rich. Very 'pretend' Roman, and a most eye-catching scene.

(Oh, and sorry for the sudden outbreak of Tourette's.)

Love it.  Love the bright, vivid painting style.

Thanks. I wanted the figures to have that look. I'll be having Brigade add more to the line later in the year. The Captain is already sculpted and finally at the caster. I'll probably get two additional poses and then add in some archers.

Yes they are. Heralté City Guard. You can see them here:

I need to get the painted samples up in the store.

Great paintjobs.  The individual bases under his front feet make him look like he's defending his turds though.

Very nice miniatures and painting.

My brother is preparing some Broadsword adventures at this moment. I only wish that he will be faster than me doing pulp  lol

Really I want to test the rules and have some high fantasy games.

Pretty! I like how the metal and skin tones on the monster work together. That´s a Chronopia beast, isn´t it?

It is indeed a Chronopia beast. There are two tusks that are missing from it though as I could not find them. I first started painting it when it came out years ago. I was originally going for an albino look. It never worked out so yesterday morning I slapped some ink on it then last night I touched up with some additional highlights and drybrushing.

You know, that picture has made me want to dig out my old gladiator stuff and force my lot to play it. Just something about that pic smacks of an entertainment for the masses in an arena to me. We never really did gladiators justice when that was our fad. By the time I finally found some rules I liked it had sort of run out of steam.

Have to have some beast-fighting in there, in honour of this picture.

So that's what I'm going to do. And the best of it is, we can do it without me having to  buy or paint anything new. So thanks for that, Rich (and sorry your inspiring me didn't actually result in me buying any more Rattrap products).

I even watched "Gladiator" tonight. Not as good as I remembered it to be, though. Odd that.

I guess I'll just have to be satisfied with knowing I sparked an idea for you.

Next time I expect you to shop though.  :D
