I was wondering: which beastmen figures can you buy right now that are actually IN PRINT, so to speak?
I know of the GW Beastmen and the Northstar gnolls, but what else is out there?
I'm also curious about beastmen bits you can do some kitbashing with.
-
Would skaven parts work for you for mixing in with the beastmen and gnolls?
Are you only looking for beasty parts or do you want some to look more human? I once saw some really nice conversions done using beastmen and chaos marauders, with the theory being that in a chaos army he felt that they should all be on a spectrum from pure beastmen to pure human with human-like beasts and beast-like humans in between.

At this point I don't have anything concrete in mind. I'm sort of envisioning a warband consisting of all kinds of beastmen - I don't know yet if they will be complete models from different ranges or kitbashes. Just saw pics of the Malifaux Tengus (birdmen), they also look very cool :)

Check out Reaper Miniatures...cheap and a wide variety...

Ral Partha Beastmen if you are looking for non-chaotical/evil spikes & skull-laden types:

( and the next couple of pages... ).

Imaginative Miniatures also do some nice, non chaos-y, Beastmen.

Beastmen work fine, the Gors? work well size wize, the Ungors( larger ones ) are just a bit to big and with the size of the weapons they carry they end up almost twice the height of the frostgrave figs.
I've kit bashed a couple of the heads of the Gors onto a cultist body, they give you a different look if thats what you're after.

Other way round. The Ungors are the human sized ones with the small (pathetic) horns, the Gors are the larger ones with a set of proper horns.
I have a Mordheim Beastmen warband that will double up as a group of henchmen when I run a different wizard (though I do have one in my chronomancer warband).
All that said, I wonder what figs you had, as my Gor figures, while bigger than human (by design) certainly aren't "almost twice the height". Have you got them confused with their minotaurs?
-
Also look at the plastic GW daemon kits. Kit-bashing beast potential there, especially the Khorne and Slannesh ranges (if they still do Slannesh).
-
Black Tree design do some beastmen. Nice and cheap too.
-
The Satyrs from Crocodile for Wargods are pretty useful, Reaper has a few options mixed in as well
-
The gor's ,beastmen and Slannesh were all ebay used figs, and I just ripped off the heads or cut the arms off and did them that way.
The mantic lot I bought new.
I decided to go with a mixed bunch rather than all 1 type as I imagined that if the wizard was buying
help at some Inn they would be a mixed bunch.
It worked for me and the colours help me find them ... lol
The eyesight isnt what it used to be and once you start splitting people up amongst the ruins ,there was always 1 that got forgotten about , the nice dark colours that looked great when painted seemed to just blend in with the background :)

Black Tree Designs have bull-like beastmen - about 30mm tall with various heavy weapons (packs of three and 4 different packs I think) - I used them as Rangifers - painted up nicely
-
That's some nice kitbashing Roger. Thanks for sharing

I am very pro Broo for Frostgrave. "Beastmen" is a derivative term Blizzard and Games Workshop used to steal them.
If I was going to incorporate Broo into Frostgrave it would be with all the insanity Chaosium originally infused into them- that being said I thought the Gnolls were the work around.
