Title: Pulp Motorcyclists
Post by: Johnnytodd on 30 January 2009, 01:46:10 AM
In hopes of generating interest in the mfg of pulp motorcyclists, I thought I'd start a thread to post some ideas.  Here's one showing Chinese troops on Harley Davidsons in the early '30s:

I would also like to see some egyptian policemen (you know those with fez, similar to Pulp Miniatures Istanbul Constabulary) on motorcycles:

-By the way Anglian is doing some research for SCW motobikes

I've been wondering about the suitability of BAM's WWII Harleys and how difficult it would be to equip them with side cars, but then I realize how little I want to convert the riders.

Maybe I'll put one of Copplestone's pilots in the side car.

I agree!  Lifted this en-masse from where I posted it in another thread.

I'd also love almost any 1920s/30s miniatures on motorcycles, including these machine gun hacks:

In fact, I don't know how Pulp Figures could even contemplate making pulp police without a police Harley and sidehack:

For that matter, Company B should make one of the armored Harleys I've seen a few pics of:

I have to throw in this old post as well:

Someone on my motorcycle forum posted this crazy motorcycle and I felt it was my responsibility to show it here.  Not sure if I've chosen the appropriate folder though.

I can easily see someone wearing a flyer's cap piloting this thing through mountain passes, chasing after a German zepellin.  I wonder if we could get Artizan to knock one out?

Gotta add that this is the best motorcycle mini out there, from Great War Miniatures:

With sort of a generic riding outfit, he could probably be converted in a variety of ways.

Rafm has these motorcycle cops (sculpted by Bob Murch, if I am not mistaken):

Wasn't there one for TE Lawrence some years back? That Great War Miniatures one looks as if it might suit my East Africa force with a head change to give the rider a solar topee or Wolseley helmet.

Sad thing is it's part of a set.  I would like a squad, but haven't got any need for the rest of the figures in multiples.

Hope someone produces it as a single or pack.

I totally agree.  I finally bought the set just to have the bike, and only because I had a gift certificate of sorts.

I agree with the above. I always wanted a couple for my chinese armies, but there is no use of the the rest figures. Let's hope to have some luck in the the future!

Perhaps you could just try and find others to sell off the other miniatures to.

@ Rudy & Arg'  >:D You are just a bunch of whiners ! Just buy eleven packs and you get a whole football team as bonus ! (the goalkeeper may need a bit of conversion though   ;))

Matt,
really a Very good idea !!!!
Never thought of it!

You are right. But there will be a little more work with conversion to have the whole team workable, otherwise we shall end with an 11-figures football team ready to play a football match with 11 balls!!!!.

Now I am thinking where is the opposition?

obvious: We have to buy 22 packs (and double all the conversion problems/work!) and finally we shall have 2 squads of motorbikes each.

The coach, the referee ....

Perhaps of some pulp use - but definitely a cool vehicle.  My next scratch-build project for JTFM is the Kettenkrad:

Sadly, no need to opposition, cause we all know now, thanks to Gary Lineker, that "Football is a simple game; 22 men chase a ball for 90 minutes and at the end, the Germans win."
Poor England, unable to win something since 1966... Even Grece took one trophy !  lol

Matt

You could make a rodent hunting team with that many sets too :o. In regards to the football, hope you don't mind too much I was cheering for the Germans lol.
