Title: Kings of War Historical Amries rulebook...
Post by: Condottiere on 02 September 2016, 06:12:35 PM
Kings of War Historical Armies (http://www.manticgames.com/mantic-shop/kings-of-war/books/product/kings-of-war-historical-armies.html?utm_source=Mantic+Games+Newsletter&utm_campaign=0a2924fdaa-Mantic+Games+Newsletter+409&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_20fe4cf5a8-0a2924fdaa-201414881)

Anyone play-test this and not bound by an NDA?

I've just been looking at the screen shots on the website, looks very like KoW fantasy. I'd be interested to know what is different - beyond the army lists. Which looking at the Roman one seems to use a number of generic units, and a few specific ones for that force.

There is this thread from a few weeks ago http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=92981.0

What I would like to know, is:

Does this mean that Mantic will start issuing historical miniature ranges, too?
I don't see much profit in just releasing a rulebook - on the other hand, there is a LOT of historical ranges, including vast quantities of cheap plastic, out there to choose from already.

Well...

I imagine the rules will be largely the same as the fantasy version, just with the flying and magic and some of the other more 'fantasy' rules removed.

I really like Kings of War and I'm looking forwards to this!

Thanks. I recall now a discussion about KoW historical on TMP from a few years ago. I don't think I'll like these rules, as fantasy version is too abstract for my taste - prefer WAB 1.5.
