Title: (KICKSTARTER) New Sci-Fi Minis by RBJ sculpted by Bobby Jackson
Post by: Roebeast45 on 05 September 2016, 01:40:01 AM
RBJ has another KS going, this one featuring robots, aliens, and a schnauzer. It also includes some of their new BDU Troopers which promise to be super useful minis for a variety of games.

Some nice figures there :-* :-* :-*
Can you explain why STB001 and stb002 seem to be completely different looking from the other troopers?

More to the point, why do they look like Benny Hill?

Bobby Jackson is a dashed good sculptor, but is the world really crying out for more robot skeletons?  Still, it's funded already, so perhaps the answer is "yes", after all.

One-eyed Nazi girl would be good value in pulp games - imagine her in a duel with Pulp Alley's one-eyed heroine Minerva, each trying to manoeuvre the other into her blind spot!  And it is possible to pledge for just her and the dog.  But minimum postage of $20 outside North America rather puts the mockers on that, so I hope they go on regular commercial release eventually.

I looked at that picture in the original post and felt overwhelmingly "meh" about it all.

The humans look great, as they did the last time, but I'm not feeling the robots. With the poses and certain details like the chins and round eyes, they remind me of that guy off ye olde Scotch video tape ad. (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=lZz2il4nhH8)

Would much rather have seen a squad of the Humans, and just a few of the skellie robots as support.

Pretty good stuff.

Hello all

We Have just passed the first stretch goal.

We have a pledge level of just the human troops. 22 different models.

STB001 and STB002 are previews of the light armor BDU troopers or grunts not in the environmental armor.

Thanks for all the suggestions and comments. Much appreciatated.

I ended up getting all the troopers (in BDU and in environmental armor) plus the robots in another RBJ Kickstarter and I have to say that I'm really impressed by them. Excellent casting quality all around and the troopers are full of character. The robots are growing on me, maybe they needed to be a bit bulkier...
