Title: 1930's car wars
Post by: Freelancer on September 05, 2016, 03:00:30 AM
Did some quick conversions for a car to playtest Lon Teal's new 1930's car wars rules. They are designed to go with the jalopies Eureka miniatures are producing, but the one I am interested in using is still waiting to be cast, so I used one of their driver's and a matchbox car I found at a market yesterday.

Decked out for battle

Eureka have some really boss cars to add to this and may be adding more in future.

Yes, the Eureka cars are the inspiration behind this. They include gunner seats with swivel gun mounts and a nice range of drivers and gunners. I was going to try and modify a WW1 fighter to make a funky car, but found the toy instead. There is a cool 3 wheel "bike" I want to get when it is released.

I couldn't find pics of them on the Eureka website yet, but found a few examples on the Tabletop fix blogspot

I'm doing some work for Eureka on that line right now and I can tell you there is a lot more cool stuff coming. (I should start a topic on that actually) A very cool and appropriate car you found to use along them though. Any place I could find those rules? I'd love to know what rules go along with the models I'm designing.  :D

A work in progress at the moment.

As are many of the cars, but if there is going to be any particular features in those rules I might actually end up modeling them on the cars.  :D

Very nice. The background suits the mood too.

Good looking car.

I like the idea of getting a WW I aircraft fuselage and converting into a car!

I reckon the guy in the back seat gets his hat blown off the moment that thing starts up.  :D

PLaytest of our rules - using a car-racing scenario where the cars need to pass four markers on the gameboard and return back to the starting line. Freelancer's car has a front-facing gun only, but it certainly does a lot of damage when it hits!

I spotted some other bits which appear familiar there.  :D

The turn gauge looks good, Though I could see it being a hassle in tight spaces between tall terrain. Then again any measuring would be in such a situation.

You all laughed when I took off from the starting line at a snails pace, but you fell for my dastedly plan!

That plan being: "shoot them in the back"?   :D

Especially when you use the terrain to stop your power-slides like I did.  lol

We'll have a look at the turn gauge - maybe something perspex will work...

Hmmm...I don't remember that. I remember you cutting off the 'Sydney Workers' Collective' security truck before they even got going!

Now this I DO remember.   ;)
