Among my many projects, I've been working on some Marvel superheroes for some time. I now have enough models to call a 'collection', so figured I'd start a thread on them. I'm a bit reticent, as there've been some amazing threads recently - Opponenttheory's supers thread is so stonking that I want to resign from painting, for example! But for my sins, here's what I came up with...
So far we have: Spidey

The Green Goblin

Iron Man

Black Panther (a plastic toy from the Handful of Heroes range)

And Black Widow

I do have some other models already done and nearing completion, but I need to get them photographed.
Weird thing about these metal Marvel figures - I find them really difficult to paint, and I'm not really sure why. I definitely think they're a bit under my usual standard of painting, even though I tried my damnedest. Ah well!
-
They look pretty good!
The superheroes are quite different to most other models out there. Few have weapons or any of the usual accessories and their costumes tend to have lots of smooth areas. The details tend to be simpler too, typically basic shapes repeated a lot such as on captain america's torso or colossus's metal skin. And of course the colour schemes are often two or three saturated spectral hues.

I really like the Spidey, very Steve Ditko.
-
Look great. Really like the cloaked Black Panther as well!

One of the first Marvel minis I painted, the Hulk is probably still my favourite. He's HUGE, but unlike the ones in the post above, was a joy to paint. (But a b*tch to assemble lol )

Probably going to rebase him actually - that base looks rather small, and the Marvel game rules from Knight Models now states that he should be on a larger base...
-
Some fine painting on display, good job.

Added a couple more this week.

Apologies for the mild threadomancy, but I've painted a few more minis for my Avengers crew.

Okay, I can't resist...
"AVENGERS, ASSEMBLE!"

Wow! That's some MARVELous painting! :-*
-
Lovely painting, really like the Green Goblin and the Hulk. :)
-
Those are some SUPER super heros!
Sorry I'd missed this thread. All are fantastic, but that Hulk.... :-* :-* :-*
-
Amazing PJs. I really like the Hulk and Vision. Did you post a close up of Thor?
-
Thanks everyone! Definitely most proud of Hulk. I'm finding these models tough to paint because of all the smooth areas. Haven't quite mastered that comic-book style yet, whereas Hulk's large size allowed me to use my 'normal' painting style.
Just realised I never did take a photo of Thor on his own. Huh. Have this one for now :)

Thor looks great!

Excellent.
-
Still plugging away with the supers! (Apologies for the slightly poor picture quality on this one).

"Rivals? No one rivals Doom! NO ONE! Doom is supreme!"
-
That's a lovely piece! :-*
-
"You know it makes sense".
Excellent.
-
Great paint job on Doom
-
Doom looks fantastic.
It's too bad they never finished the Fantastic Four before they lost the Marvel License.
I guess they got 1/2 done. Thing and the Invisible Girl.
-
I'm looking at making a Fantastic Four now. I've got Knight's Ben Grimm already, and I've just started stripping some Heroclix, with a serious view to including them in the collection. Reed is pretty good scale-wise, so I'll see how he paints up. Not sure about Johnny though. For Sue Storm, I've picked up Pandora from Crooked Dice, as Clix female sculpts are generally horrible.

There are several sculpts of Mr Fantastic (and most likely of the others as well). Invisible Girl is a decent enough schulpt. Here are my repaints - I believe that these are the 'oldest' sculpts that have been done for the FF

Yep, that's the Reed and Torch I have. I just think the Human Torch is a tad small for the Knight Models stuff, but if I put him on an elevated base he'll probably look fine.

Bendy plastic repaint alert! this is Venom from the old 'Handful of Heroes' range.

Very nice work. :)
-
Venom looks great. Nice work.
Greetings,
Zeebeest.
-
Dr doom and the vision are awesome!
-
For Sue Storm, I've picked up Pandora from Crooked Dice, as Clix female sculpts are generally horrible.
LOVE that idea for Sue Storm. Hope you don't mind if I nick it!
Also love the Venom. I painted up the Handful of Hero's Thing, which I think works perfect for 30-35mm sized figures.

Time for a bit of an update. I've finally got a decent lightbox setup, and although it's taking me a while to figure out the best settings, here are some initial shots.
Up first: Handful of Heroes (bendy plastic) Doc Ock! Love this guy.

Next, a better shot of Thor, as I never photographed him properly.

And finally, replacing those phone cam shots of Doom with some proper shots:
