So a total rural setting this time...rough rocky terrain with woods & a river flowing into an eventual marsh.
Pics ready for an early start tomorrow.
Scenario is similar to the movie. 4 recon guys were compromised & had a hard contact after being caught over the border of Afmandali. Losing a man in the process of escape n evasion, they start at the river end & have to exit off at the marsh end, which constitutes their original crossing point.
Being pursued..the enemy have random entry points...so should be interesting!
AAR to follow...
Meanwhile the terrain, showing the exit point.

Stunning river scenery.
-
Damn, that is some very impressive scenery!
That's probably the most realistic water I've seen on a game table.
-
:'( :'( :'(
I just decided to go with a great-looking cloth pattern for my river and put sculpted banks on either side. Now, I see this and think to myself: SLACKER!
Looks amazing -- love it!

That's superb. Your rock work is very effective too. Any tips? Also, how big are the sections? They look like they're another 2'x2' ish?
-
Absolutely fantastic looking terrain you have there!
-
By now it is beginning to sound like an ekko. But that terrain is absolutely amazing! That has to be one of the best rivers I have seen on a gameboard.
-
Blimey!
-
Very nice indeed!
Julie London or Mari Wilson?

Julie London or Mari Wilson?
Hehehe well played!
-
Lovely river terrain :o
-
That´s some impressive rivermaking!
-
That's terrific terrain in general, but the river is outstanding. The white water is very convincing.
It take it that, although the river runs into marsh at this end, it starts in a timber lake?
-
Now THAT is how a river should be made!
Superb!

Superb table to play on!

Wow, that looks real.
Made my day.

Incedible! Wow!

Beautiful!

Daaaamn, thats a nice table - I have idea when to do it, but I simply must build one of my one...

Well Thanks very much for all the lovely comments. :-*
My mate Lee ran the depleted SF recon team & i ran the guerillas.
The SF boys would enter the terrain first & then get a full round of actions before the 1st lot of G`s entered. Now in relation to the Gs, the first 2 turns had eight of them entering on the same edge as the SF guys but thereafter they would enter at random points inc up to the beginning of the marsh. They would continue to arrive in groups of 1-4 (again random) each turn. This was to simulate numbers being flooded into the area etc. So the longer the SF took to reach their exit point & cross the border, the more gs they would face. Al rocky areas counted as difficult terrain & if you attempted to run for more than 2 actions there would be a chance you would turn an ankle thus reducing your movement rates for the following turn. The water was walk speed only due to its fast flow nature & the 3 large rocks were impassable. So some tactical decisions were indeed reqd.
The Recon team. Leader in boonie hat with marksman scoped rifle & grenades, radio op with asslt rifle & grenades & bearded wonder with asslt rifle & grenades. 2 frag, 1 smoke.
-
The team could hear the shouts n screams of the pursuing local guerillas & decided to prepare a quick ambush...
-
seeking cover in the rocks n bushes..
-
The first group of Gs entered & were met with withering fire, immediately hitting one for a serious wound & hitting another for 2 light wounds...
-
Gunfire was exchanged & the twice hit G was further hit, again for a lw & failing his morale, bolted off, his mate quickly bleeding out from his sw.
-
More Gs arrived & advanced a bit more cautiously
-
Hearing the increasing shouts getting ever closer, the recon team posted smoke n pulled back, going into all round defence (was at this point i realised i had zero cottonwool!)
The gs charged through the smoke, thinking the kafar were getting away & quickly realised the error of their ways.

again the recon team quickly despatched the immediate threat (Lee`s die rolling was suprem..sigh)
-
Exchanges of gunfire took place from the front & side of the recon team, but their superior training showed as did the use of terrain as cover, making their shots count & passing any morale checks with ease...the gs not faring too well again!

-
Still the Gs kept coming & realising ammo was getting low, the recon team posted a frag & immediately used the blast to bound into a wooded area.
Not only did the grenade lightly wound 2, it caused them to hit the deck in the river, frozen in more ways than one! The g across the river swiftly despatched for good (natural 20 means immediate hit/kia)

Meanwhile more gs arrived, unseen by the recon they entered behind them..

The lead G man spots movement in the woods he is running towards (natural 20) & spots the radio op
-
Opening fire with his smg his sporadic & wild firing not only hits but immediately kia the operator!! (2nd 20 rolled on the bounce). Disaster....
-
Unfortunately the game ended there due to rl stuff...
However it really was a fun scenario & we will definately play it again but i will be the SF next. Interesting tactics to start by Lee at the start & once he realised that the numbers were starting to add up against him, he bust a move out of dodge.
He had some great rolls, and i didnt, until the last turn.
Would the remaining 2 guys have made it?
I will let you be the judge of that!
Until the next time...

Thank you for the AAR. Again that is a stunning table.
