Title: what to do with modelling clay?
Post by: Parrot on 18 September 2016, 09:16:00 PM
I saw at hobby lobby a 10 pound box of air dry clay and I was wondering if there was much use for such for making buildings or terrain, or of it dries to brittle to be of any use.  If anyone has any experience using it to make terrain, buildings and such I would appreciate any advice.  The brand is called Amoco.

I think on its own it tends to be fairly brittle, but to bulk out  abase, fill gaps between bar pieces when making cliff faces or to cover foamboard with a brickwall texture it is great. Only make sure you top coat it with acrylic medium and don't put too much stress on it. Aim for a reasonable thickness or it just breaks apart.
