Title: New project: 1:56 M51 Sherman
Post by: CompanyB on 19 September 2016, 04:42:15 PM
This project CAD has been done for awhile, and with the renewed interest in Weird War it may be time to release this.

The M51 Post war Sherman.  Great of the IDF, but in a pinch can be used for any scenarios after 1945.

If there is interest in this, I though we could release the full kit as shown.  I'd also like to offer just the turret if that's something useful. I have a couple of alternate barrel options in mind as well for weird war that will also work on any of our current shermans,or upcoming British tanks.

Here is it ned to a small friend..

I'll buy two of the M51's.  I don't have any Shermans, so it'll be the entire tank.

I would buy the complete M51. To be honest I don't really like the Tesla barrels except for the second one.

2nd and 3rd Tesla barrel for me, otherwise the whole tank!  :)

I'll throw a wrench into the works by saying I like the first and third tesla barrels, but not the second one.

Post by: CompanyB on 23 September 2016, 02:10:55 PM
Haha, I'll actually have all three barrels as options in the shop.  They should fit any of our shermans, and forthcoming churchill.  They should also work with any kit from other companies with a little tinkering.  I'll also have a few sprues of power couplers, power packs, etc to add on to turrets and hulls.

We will be releasing the M51 as is.  So weird war or IDF, it's up to customers how to use it

Any chance for that same Weird War treatment on a StuG or similar casement style tank destroyer? I always thought those energy weapons would do better on that type of chassis (that and there's more space to stick all the junk).

Sound slike an easy conversion!
Just stick the new weird war barrel to the WWII model...   ;)

BTW - I am really happy about these models, I like Konflikt but none of the models really catched my eye. ::)

I was going to do the same myself actually, with my own tesla gun, but just haven't bothered yet (that and my own Weird War stuff so far's been a bit more down to earth. ...Give it a while). It'd be easy enough to do though, especially with that style of casement (the longer Stalingrad style casement would perhaps be a more appropriate style for the StuG personally).

Funny you should bring that up on the Stugs..

We just finished printing the CAD on these and both are in production.

Both are just Casemate drops onto our Panzer III model
(https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1141/1784/products/Screen_Shot_2016-09-23_at_8.34.42_AM_large.png?v=1474644960)

So a Stug III is actually doable if anyone would buy it. But in the meantime, the weapons will also fit both our SIG33 and SU76i.  Both kits will be out around the same time as the M51.  Probably before.

Also, as you'll see in our workbench thread, apart from Custom decals, we have from time to time created custom parts, tanks, and kit pieces for folks.  We can either make the entire master model like Brigade Games new FT-17 kit, or just a single part or conversion piece like a turret. If we end up adding it to the shop down the road, it's actually not that expensive.  About as much as getting a couple of figures sculpted.

So what's that second one? Not a StuG 3 right (those had the standard casement)? I'm not too versed in that style of tank destroyer. I like the style, maybe just with some add on armour for the rear vents, but that's my own tastes.

The second one is a Russian SU76i.  Created from the 100's of captured Stug III's.  The were no longer front line once the proper SU76 based on the T-70 came out.   Still a cool model, and since we we're already doing CAD on the SIg33, we thought we'd do that one as well.

Ah right, the gun shield did look rather Soviet to me. :)

I think they just grabbed the gun from a T-34 and jammed it in...

"hundreds"

In total, Factory #37 in Sverdlovsk manufactured 181 SU-76i plus 20 commander SU-76i for Red Army service by adding an enclosed superstructure and the 76.2 mm S-1 tank gun.

Power supply added.  I think we will have two sizes...

The M51 will be a kit as is for Weird or Cold Wars (IDF)
The tesla guns will be a set
another set will be the power supply (two sizes) along with cables and couplers.

M-51 CAD model is with the printer.  So I'm hoping masters hit me in the next week or two, and I can send those off to manufacture end of Nov.

Pulled the trigger on two of the M51's.  Breathless with anticipation!

Am I the first to order them (2.30am on Monday the 13th)?  Will I be famous?

your famous in my book and I think you're the only to order them though.  But they have been drawing site traffic!

So you are the only person I know of that has M-51 shermans in 1:56 in their collection.  :-*
