Does look promising. Anyone seen the 1970 version? I know Dean Stockwell was in that as well.

Because they kept to the modern-day-remake trend. Look no further than any super hero movie or the Day the Earth Stood Still for examples...

becuase most directers and screen play writers have no really vison any more and I am guessing production costs are a lot cheaper with a "modern seting" useing modern cars and stuff then, makeing a period set.
As long as they keep to the rest of the story it should be good.

At least someone is still giving Lovecraft a go. I also hate 'modernized' stories...but I love Jeffery Combs and Dean Stockwell, so I will hope. It's not really a hard story to translate to film, as far as Lovecraft stuff goes. Intro badguy, find book, meet goodguy, steal book, track badguy, rampaging monster, stern conclusions drawn, the end. Hope it dosen't suck...

  The Cthulhu silent movie released a couple of years ago goes against the 'modernization' trend of Hollywood classics, thankfully. That was a decent production. Still looking forward to seeing this movie, though.

Yes.  The standard of the acting drove me quite mad. o_o  It is on a par with Zardoz, but with less nudity.

My first wife used to run the Jeff Combs fan club.  Nothing was weirder than having another man call and ask to speek to my wife.  Unless, of course, that man happens to be Weyoun the Vorta!  Very strange stuff in the old days.

Every time I see him in something, I recall the couple of phone conversations he and I had, it also makes me wonder if I should have gone along to that convention with her...

Water under the bridge now, I am much happier, and I can always have a chuckle at his expense to know that on the couple of occasions he did call us he always talked to me about his love of Lovecraft's work and then asked " to speak to the president".

I am laughing and shaking my head even now, but yes, I will have to DVR this when it airs, it ought to be entertaining.
