Serving a bit of self-interest here... :D
Wargames factory put up the suggestion for a sprue of modern day riot police:
http://www.wargamesfactory.com/BookingRetrieve.aspx?ID=43027 (http://www.wargamesfactory.com/BookingRetrieve.aspx?ID=43027)
It was submitted back when the L&U league was just started.
I figure they could see all kinds of uses: The thin blue line vs zombies, another obstacle for zombie survivors to take.
And for some reason, the particular tactical challenges facing the riot police in urban settings seem like an interesting challenge to me.
Especially if you already have somehistorical miniatures and decide to play a "re-enactors vs the Law" scenario... ;)
I wasn't entirely sure if I picked the right board for this? If I chose wrong, please let me know...
Bye, Modhail

Now, I´d really like some cops with riot shields and batons, but...
... do those folks ever plan to actually do the stuff? I mean, there´s threads by the dozen on the L&U scheme over on TMP, and I´m dubious given the variation any of these will garner enough support to be done?!?
BTW, I´ll hold my breath for the Offensive Miniatures´ Riot Cops first. Their promo looks rather nice.

Hahah that's rich - I was just about to reply the almost exact same! I mean: We've seen enough of the "to do's" and the "concepts" - now we need to see some real models!
Even though the idea of being able to suggest miniatures is nice, I think a company should keep the amount of "suggestions" in somekind of proportion to it's "own product". Right now it seems to my that customer suggestions have completely taken over WGF.

It's a survival of the fittest thing really. Hit the pre-order mark, get made, don't make the mark, get deleted.
But I have to admit that it seems to be nearing a breaking point of sorts. There are just getting too many suggestions to be able to find what you are looking for, or for any chance of one's own suggestion to stand out...
And a lot seem to be just individual satisfying their own quirks, with little thought to larger commercial viability. (I mean, riot cops are pretty niche as is, but I'm surprised no-one has requested fez-wearing winged monkeys in waistcoats yet.... ;D)
I just hope for the guys at Wargames Factory that the handfull of suggestions that may actually reach production pay back the effort (and expense) of administrating all those suggestions and their forums.
And I agree with Thorbjørn Nielsen, it might have been prudent of the WGF-crew to have install some kind of pre-selection to weed out the truly screwball and extreme niche requests. As it is now, they may be forced to do a rather strict cull somewhere in the coming months.
As an experiment in commercial approach and customer feedback, it is interesting to see, at least.
Some suggestions don't seem suitable for the large scale of plastic production, but might work for Eureka's 100 club... Maybe they could co-operate?
So, making a short answer long, I don't really expect the Riot cops to make the cut, but thought it worth/fun trying anyway. ::)
Yeah, I've got the Offensive miniatures Riot Cops tagged as well. They're the fall-back plan in case the plastics don't make it. ;)

I think they're a good suggestion and if they were made and were looking good I might buy about 10 models or so. For the moment though I first want to see how the zombies turn out (assembled and painted by myself) before I commit myself to other sprues.
And I agree, the number of suggestions that will never get made is huge, I think it may be time for them to start using the bucket list to weed out the crap.

Try the Hasslefree Riot Cop - comes with separate arms, so that you can make a baton/shield combo, or alternatively have a riotgun, varying the position of the baton/shield arms gives you more options - i've even stuck one on a horse for a bit of mounted support.

To fill out the ranks a bit further, TAG do a pack of 4 minis with baton and shields:

The TAG ones bring down the average cost per mini of your Riot Squad significantly, but the HF ones look great also.

Heroclix also had a Riot Cop. You should be able to get those very cheap.

Victory Force also make riot cops:

I'd be interested in plastic ones too though.

I have decided I am not signing up for anymore Wargames Factory sprues until I have the zombie sprue in my hands... that one is sort of my test sprue for WF. If they deliver on that one I will sign up for more for sure. I think riot police would be a good one for sure!

I like the Victory Force ones. They have a SE-Asian/Futuristic look to them, I think.
