Title: Sharp Practice and the Mohawk Valley Campaign
Post by: Belisarius on 29 September 2016, 03:05:23 PM: The Basementeers are starting a little ladder campaign set in the Fr & Indian Wars next Tuesday. I,m using the 3 X lists for Fr. and British as published in the book ,P86 & 89, a different list for each game to reflect the losses or gains following each battle. I d,ont intend to re - invent the wheel and as Mr. Clark has done all the spade work , well , let's use it. First game is the Encounter scenario , the Frogs having progressed from the left towards their objective on the far right, a farmhouse / trading post / settlement which they intend to loot and burn. The British objective is to eventually push them back across the Mohawk River on the far left. I thought I,d give each Leader a suitable name and one from each side a back story, " Blooding the Dauphinoise " or " Clear your Name " , perhaps P. 77 & 78 , as a side task. I thought I,d assign command to different people each night as I d,ont want the games to stall thro over caution plus It dos,nt depend on a particular person being there. I include the basic ladder map and a sample Force , Fr. Raiding Party at 45 points , you can see that a lack of suitable figures w,ont stop us.

I figure they must have spent more time outdoors than most modern people, even their direct descendants, and maybe were using bear grease as a bug repellant and cosmetic. I saw a photo, once, of some Blackfoot men, I think they were, in a teepee with their shirts off. They all had farmer's tans - their faces and hands were three shades darker than their chests.

Interesting that your white-coat French regulars are multi-mounted on stands. I thought Sharpe Practice called for single-mounted figures. Was I mistaken?

Post by: Belisarius on 29 September 2016, 06:13:02 PM: Hi Z, we use both single and multiple based figures with no problem, just add a mini dice for casualties beside the base , with perhaps tokens or different coloured dice to denote " shock " . Agree with you about Native American skin tones , also Mediterranean / Latin and Indian / Pathan skin types. White / pink tones should be reserved for Caucasian / N. European . Gaston du Pont got shot in the arsenal by his own side on a Bad things happen roll.next Tuesday for the second game Attack on an objective, a Trading Post.
