Title: BAND of BROTHERS
Post by: Suetonius Paullinus on September 30, 2016, 11:16:48 PM
Time for a new project and what's more appropriate than the new BA starter box  8-)

Here the first test figure for my 101st:

(http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m146/CiaphasCain_album/Bolt%20Action%20Band%20of%20Brothers/9B5468F1-52E7-4DFC-8A8D-528A95D55372_zpsex7neveg.jpg) (http://s103.photobucket.com/user/CiaphasCain_album/media/Bolt%20Action%20Band%20of%20Brothers/9B5468F1-52E7-4DFC-8A8D-528A95D55372_zpsex7neveg.jpg.html)

I really want the D-day guys so I've tweaked him a little since they wear the later uniform. I'm quite happy with the results and it's only minor changes anyway..   8)

I really wasn't overly impressed with these plastics when I saw them first, but you've done an excellent job!

Thanks for your comments gentlemen!

I've painted one up in M43 uniform and actually like it even better than the D-Day one  o_o
Another box ordered so I can have both  :D

I really enjoy looking at your painted mins! You give them a certain depth that takes away the gurney faces warlord figures have. Just spot on. It makes me want to pick up a box!  Keep them coming!

Wow, lovely work, are those transfers for the unit insignia? and if so did they come with them?

Like probably many on this forum, I first cut my teeth on WWII Airfix kits and 1:72nd plastics when I was kneehigh to a grasshopper. They first got me into wargaming. Seeing these makes me all nostalgic, and even though I've morphed through many different periods and scales to the ones I enjoy today, these lovely renderings make me hanker to start collected and modelling WWII. Well done in bringing out the best in these figures...

Thank you for your kind replies guys!

@soldado
In the new US Airborne box are transfers for 101st and 82nd including rank insignia.
There are disappointingly none in the otherwise brilliant BoB starter box. Possibly the only flaw the box has. Thankfully I had some old Bolt Action transfers in my collection  8)

Did you use the Brown Violet with some highlights for the M43 uniform. It looks spot on!
Title: Re: BAND of BROTHERS

@CaptainHaddon

For the M-1943 I mixed Vallejo Green Brown + Russian Uniform roughly 2:1.
I've seen so many different shades of green for this that I decided to just do what I like best..
So I wouldn't say it's particularly accurate  ;)

Very nice!

Curious about the set's construction. I picked up a sprue of their Brits and wasn't very impressed. Indifferent sculpts aside it was all individual arms and separate weapons which are ultra fiddly and a pain to get into decent poses. I also have some of their plastic Japanese, which had weapons connected to both arms and were relatively painless to construct.

No worries, the weapons are attached to at least one arm..
I'd preferred to have a few separate ones tho to be honest but hey, they have listened to the complaints.

I have never seen the Bolt Action plastics looking quite so good. When I saw your fist figure I even wondered if it was a 40mm figures as the detailing- especially the screamin' eagle badge, looks amazing. well done.
