Hi there, I was wondering if anyone knows of any miniatures suitable for Starship Troopers in 28mm? I know that mongoose had a line at some point, but sadly it has been discontinued. Ideally they wouldn't cost crazy amounts (like £50 for 10 men) I am aware that Hasslefree makes some Aliens troopers that could work quite well, but I'm wondering if there are any other companies that make suitibale miniatures.

I believe Rebel mins in the US picked up a bunch of the old SST line from mongoose it there 28mm line.
Also guessing you going for the movie instead of the book style mobile infantry.

What Commissar Moody said.
Here's the Rebel stuff (Human): http://www.rebelminis.com/eafohogu.html
(Skinnies): http://www.rebelminis.com/valonianempire.html
(More Skinnies): http://www.rebelminis.com/forsaken.html
They have the odd bug as well... but not the normal ones.

Rebel did rescue many of the metals, and they're running a sale right now as well. If you're after book MI, the Cougar and Grizzly suits work fine. Getting proper book Arachnids is much more of a challenge, since there's a real lack of armed pseudo-spider models out there and the Mongoose/movie stuff does nothing to help there.

Oh, cheers! Now to see how much shipping to the UK will be!

Come to think of it, these Rebel figs http://www.rebelminis.com/spbugboxse.html could serve as book Arachnids without too much conversion work. Adding a gun from the bits box wouldn't be a challenge, and you could leave some unarmed as worker bugs. OTOH, they're a little big for the role, and getting huge numbers of them would be expensive.
On a different note, having just re-read SST last month I have to ask, why does anyone actually want to game this setting? The book doesn't really have much actual combat in it and what there is tends to be all one-sided and frankly rather dull. There's also nothing that really suggests humanity is winning the war (quite the opposite, really) nor that the capture of the brain bugs at the end of the novel is definitely going to change that. SST has a reputation in literature courses for its social/political commentary but it's not a very good piece of military scifi at all, at least not compared to (for ex) almost anything by Drake, Ringo or even the nearly-contemporary Forever War (which Mayfair made a serviceable boardgame out of, one that could easily be adapted to minis rules).
You want cool power armor fights, Steakley's Armor setting or Ringo's Posleen books seem like way better choices to me.

Have a look at Curteys Miniatures sci-fi line for the troops. More film than book though. Such a shame GZG discontinued their bugs.

I still got a lot of the Mongoose minis, painted and unpainted...

If interested, just PM me.

I too have the game and a box of the troopers if you're interested. All unpainted some unbuilt.

This sale was well-timed then!

Worth noting that these are more 25mm. Defenitely smaller, and obviously so, next to modern 28/32mm.

But on the plus side, that could make 28mm alien figures look much more menacing

Thanks, in my travels across the interwebz I have also found these Victoria Miniatures Not-Imperial Guard (Or Whatever it's called now) that for some reason remind me of the Movie Troopers, a bit on the expensive side though ($25.90 for 5). Might be useful if anyone wants to make a IG vs Tyranids scenario though.

That'll be Australian dollars, though, won't it?

Best hurry if taking advantage of it, the sale ends in just a few hours.

Nope - sadly it is US dollars.
I placed an order a while back thinking to avoid the horrid Aussie dollar and was shocked that VM has been charging US dollars for years now.
