Howard Lovecraft & the Frozen Kingdom (2016) 
An animated kids movie!
WHY?

...... He meets a Deep One, Thu Thu Hmong, who initially tries to eat Howard but comes around after the boy saves the creature's life.

Oh the humanity.

It's the new phase in Cthulhu's plan...going mainstream and becoming cuddly and loved by all...watch it....it's a darker scheme than you expect...

Nothing new there.  Baby's First Mythos came out back in 2004.
