Title: 1/48 U-boat
Post by: carlos marighela on 11 October 2016, 01:10:59 AM
For the jaundiced gamer who has everything, including an Olympic sized swimming pool:

Quite possibly the most insane bit of kit I have seen in ages and wonderfully detailed.  The truly impressive bit, size and price aside, is that it comes with 48 crew figures. That's the typical full complement for a Type VII U-boat.

If only they would produce a water-lined hull model.  :D

It's a lovely thing, if not much use for gaming (I agree that a waterline one would be much more useful) & I suppose the price isn't any madder than a medium sized Forge World offering.
(There is a waterline sub out there, I think North Star had it.)

(Edit: No, I'm mistaken, it was Brigade Games I was thinking of)

There was alway talk of 1/72nd naval warfare on the lawn at Kelham Hall; there's so much more room at the Newark Showground...

Photos Hammers?  I remembering mastering that beast. I bet it would of been easier with a skeleton of laser cut mdf.

After doing the conning tower, I realized I had the whole hull left to do.

Thing is, even in done in CAD, the printing alone would still be $500 minimum.

Sorry, no. It is still in the box. :-) Lovely kit though, and all the crew to go with it. I esp. like the inflatable dingy with paddlers.
I got it to make a "Eye of the Needle" movie themed LPL entry several years ago but stumbled on the goal line.

I kind of sort of want a 1/56th scale U-Boat for a submarine base mini. Without an interior obviously (I say obviously, but my first though was to have an interior. Maybe as a separate table for feasibility though...).

Damn, now I want a frozen Norwegian port board, tsk, but dock tables take up so much storage space. :(
